Also, William Gay wouldn't have looked so silly against the Titans...

I would say no. But it was your statement that seemed to imply that being taught to tackle the catch is either a bad thing, that Lebeau doesn't stress it, or he's not good at teaching the technique to his players.

My statement was meant to show that Steelers don't only "tackle the catch"...but also that tackling the catch may not always be the worst thing...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Your absolutely right, it depends on the situation the defense is in, you don't always need an INT, A tackle short of the sticks can work just as well. Your also right about the pick 6's Lebeau has taken some chances this year with his coverages in an attempt to generate pressure on the QB, but with any high reward comes high risk.

Wouldn't be the first time there is a disconnect between why the front office pays a player, and then the coaching staff handles him differently since 2007.
            You can't be serious.
You really think that the coaching staff, who can see the same thing we do--lack of pass-rush... would purposely *not* rush a great pass-rusher, for the sake of the defensive scheme? If Worilds could get to the QB, we'd be sending the guy all day. (e.g. If we had Aldon Smith, he wouldn't be dropping off into coverage much.)

Worilds drops, because if they were to rush the guy all the time, he'd get handled.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

you know i'm usually with ya Dub, but, getting an INT isn't always a product of good coverage... the ball FOUND him a few times this year...

Side note: you know who holds the NCAA record for most INT's per game? Dean Cain... Yup... THAT Dean Cain... 1.2 ints per game for a season... Just pointing out that raw stats don't always make you a can't miss player. What you do on the field matters.

I watched Holliman closely in Louisville's 37-14 loss yesterday and I was not impressed. he takes very bad angles when tackling as Georgia ran all over Louisville with 292 yards rushing and he had no ints or passes defensed either.

I agree. He looked completely overmatched

These bowl games will clearly show us how players truly play in high, intense situations. Can't wait!

Maybe one of the draft gurus can give a primer on any secondary players that might could help. Ive looked at Walter footballs rankings, but haven't watched a ton of college football this year.

I know Michigan st and Florida state both have a couple of corners we could look at. And always watch OSU cuz we are drafting one at some point

I'm not a draft guru, but other than Trae Waynes out of Mich State I'm not sure there is more than one more 1st Round CB pick. But haven't looked that closely yet

ES I agree with you in that our triple A associate aka OSU has a few prospects for us to gaga over. One though not a corner we may want to watch tonight is Jeff Heuerman TE. Athletic 36.5 vertical and 33x225 unconfirmed 6'5" 255 te who can be split out and has excellent blocking skills.
Purdue and Clemson tape from last year shows good hands catcher who has a quick burst and gets into his routes well. He stays on his blocks and
that is always going to make you a coaches favorite.
Not sure what draft grade the experts will put on him until post combine and after next bowl game or championship game but got to think he's a mid 3rd rounder. He reminds me of some guy named Heath but perhaps I shouldn't put that on anyone but check him out n judge for yourself.
Perhaps Shawn who is excellent with OSU prospects can chime in for us here. His opinion when it comes to this aspect is something I highly value.
