No we have William Gay and Antwon Blake behind him on the depth chart

It's bad when I can honestly say that Brice M. Might be better than Cortez And Gay.

Yes and unfortunately some will use 8-8 as the new standard of "non-losing ball".

by definition it is non losing...

honestly though, looking back I almost prefer a 6-10 or 4-12 instead of 8-8 so we can get some higher draft picks instead of barely missing the playoffs and drafting like we are almost a playoff team.

You clearly are not watching the games. William Gay has been fine. There are problems all over the roster. He is not one of them.

The Steelers deservce this. How many years has this team deglected the CB position?

We hanged our hats on an old Ike Taylor and Cortez Allen this season? Really? What did the FO and coaching staff honestly think would happen?

Cortez Allen will look like the worst CB in the NFL until they start getting to the QB. He's not without fault & not a finished product but if the Steelers continue to struggle to get pressure...Just put "Toast" on the back of his jersey. If I'm a QB & I could sit back there & go through my progression...I'm going all the way through to my #1 reciever if I know I have time.

We won't get pressure on the QB because teams can run on us. Our entire defense (like most others in the league) is based around getting teams in 3rd and long situations so it makes the offense 1 dimensional. That is when teams bring the blitz. Since our DL play sucks (particularly NT), teams can run on us and make it 2nd or 3rd and short which does NOT make them one dimensional.

Mcclendon has been the best player on the dline. Cam Thomas is useless and Heyward has been very bad this year.

I thought heyward was going to be among the elite DEs this year....i was wrong

McClendon and Cam Thomas have no business playing NT is a 3-4 defense. It's no more difficult than that.

I won't argue the run defense needs help...Because I agree. Your statement plays into the lack of pass rush. When a team is 2nd & short on the Steelers it allows them to take a chance on 2nd down. We have seen that in abundance. Because they can't generate pass rush a DC won't call down & distance...He will take his shot. There are only 8 teams that gave up more plays of over 20 yards. This team is getting killed on PA & misdirection...All of which take longer times to develop. No pass rush...We will continue to see these plays dialed up. Since our DBs are heavy run support in this system...No pass rush spells doom.

Hes playing the 1 technique though, which is fine. He wouldnt be good at 0 but we got gashed on zone stretch runs when casey was playing 0 too.

The sleft side with Heyward and Worilds has been sorry at run defense, mcclendon has nothing to do with their poor play vs zone runs

perhaps this is a good time to consider switching to a 4-3 defense instead?
