You would disagree Shawn? I'm saying the dude stayed in shape this past off season, and that the energy level at Heinz field is going to be off the charts this weekend. Didn't say a word about JH's level of play being what it was 5 years ago.

I'm on the edge with this signing, we wanted to get younger and seems we have gotten older at a couple positions...Howard jones could be that guy but from a intensity level he brings will help

You can already bet the flag happy league is going to cost us with his style of play

This is what I am saying, the guy is old, not in football shape, has a bad back and is not the future of this organization. Do I believe he will come in here and drop 10 sacks? No. Do I think he can play at a respectable level and make a few splash plays...sure. But, I am rarely excited about bringing old vets back especially when we have some exciting younger guys in the wings. I believe at this point in their careers Moats>Harrison. I do like Harrison coming back to inject some mean into the D...man do I like that. I like that he is on the squad but only for depth. I hope Moats starts...and plays so well Harrison doesn't sniff the field. I'm not as nostalgic as some of you.

It's actually Garvin, not HoJo, who should have gotten the call. He was the 4th OLB, but the Steelers pressed the panic button when JJ went down, probably because Garvin made a mental mistake sometime last December when he actually played some good football.

Throw in James' comments yesterday about now running since January, not missing the game, only coming back because his former teammates begged him, and this smacks of desperation, not "next man up".

These next few games against powder puff offenses are the perfect time to work in young players and get their feet wet, and yet the Steelers can't let go of 2008.

To those fearing that Ike may have played his last game as a Steeler, do you really think they won't call him as soon as Richardson makes a mistake next preseason?

Who am I kidding - Ike and Keisel will be in the starting lineup next opening day.

Howard Jones is on the PS. I think the Steelers have an idea whether or not Jones is ready for prime time. The Steelers are trying to win games this year right now, looking to the future now isn't prudent IMO. They have overhauled the age of the defense over the past two years only Taylor and Polamalu remain starters. Keisel is getting a decent amount of snaps, he is also playing very well. Taylor is injured; the Steelers are going to have an unproven CB playing somewhere because of this injury. Jarvis Jones was improving weekly and is now out for an extended period of time, I don't see how bringing Harrison to help try and win games right now is a bad thing, I just don't. It's not like the Steelers believe he is the future, but he is the present which is what the Steelers need to focus on and he isn't even the "starting now solution".

The Steelers are not going backwards from an age standpoint, but they are trying to move forward from a winning games standpoint and having a veteran LB that knows the defense, can provide some intensity and 10%-15% of the snaps is not bad. I really doubt that JH is going to be the starting OLB over Moats. The youth movement is almost complete and by this time next year, I suspect that Taylor, Polamalu and Keisel will all be retired. You're going to get what you want and it will have taken three years and in that time the Steelers have been competitive. What more does anyone want?

No he didn't. He lifted weights. He said he hasn't run like he did yesterday since January, when he was last employed, and that it's going to take him 3-4 weeks. He also said he didn't miss the game and if his kids told him not to play, he wouldn't have.

Doesn't sound like a guy with a burning desire to play in the NFL.

It shouldn't take him long to get t his wind back. He's not going to be full time anyway at olb.

Why do we have unproven corners? Ike was done when he got Tebowed. Should have pushed Lewis and Allen into the lineup faster, but Dick refuses to bench the comfortable veterans long after they are on the decline. We've been "trying to win now" since 2012 with old guys who ain't got it no more.

Shamarko should be playing this year, as well.

Arthur Moats should start and get 3/4 of the playing time at OLB to Harrison's 1/4. But when they announce the players coming out of the tunnel, I would go defense, announcing the DL first, then the DB's, and finish with the LB's, having Deebo be the last guy to run out of the tunnel...announce him with the starters anyway, even if he really isn't a starter, because the place would go absolutely bananas.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Garvin is a coverage backer who could have a role in nickel or dime defenses and on special teams...the coaches even refer to him as a "big safety." If anything happens to Worilds or Moats, Garvin is not the kind of guy that you want to rely on in base defense to set the edge against the run or to beat an OT with pass rush moves.

I'm not sure what the realignment of the CB situation will be, but since Taylor was playing 100% of the snaps and he isn't any longer, there is going to be a player (maybe not completely unproven) playing 100% of the snaps that probably wasn't playing 100% of the snaps or there is a backup whgo wasn't playing at all now playing some portion of the snaps in the sub-packages.

Of course they were trying to win now since 2012, that's the "being competitive part" of my previous post. They were playing with vets and they were also starting to move some young players into the lineup little by little, they are now basically done, the final release will come after this year. I agree with you, I'd like to see Thomas on the field more, Troy just seems to be trying too hard or is fast decline.
