Well said. It's foolish to even suggest that Garvin should get snaps in the base defense as an OLB. He is, as you said, simply a nickel/coverage linebacker. Using him as a 3-4 OLB would accentuate his shortcomings (strenght/size) while minimizing his strength (speed).

Yeah, since Shazier is out, Spence will be starting...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I'll be at Heinz on Sunday, and I will most certainly be giving Spence an ovation.

Of course, they may just decide to announce the offense instead to give guys like Bell, Brown, Ben, and rejuvenated OL their just due.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

            It's a bad, bad thing...for opposing QB's!

Can we at least give him a couple of weeks of actually watching what he can do on the field before we decide this it a Titanic level mistake. Geesh. It's not as if Harrison kicked your puppy and stole your candy (although he might...)

Some of you are acting as if the Steelers are benching Tamba Hali or Clay Mathews in order to bring back James. They need bodies. After Moats there's no one. JH comes in and at least knows the scheme and assignments. And while he might not be in top shape, I believe he would give it his all, getting close to death if called upon to play more snaps than originally intended.

The problem is that after one injury, they're reaching for retirees. What happened to "next man up"?

Garvin was listed as the 4th OLB. Use him or don't list him as that and keep a guy like James around so he can stay in shape.

This is a move made out of desperation.

                  Captain obvious ^^^

When you are down to your 4th OLB it's desperation time.

The next man up is Moats. He's now the starter. The 4th OLB is a situational backer, not a guy you'd want starting if Worilds or Moats go down.

A similar analogy would be at RB. If Bell or Blount get injured and are out 6-8 weeks, would we just make Archer the "next man up" to carry a majority of the load as a possible every down back if one remaining Doobie Brother were also to get injured? No...he's a situational back. We'd sign a veteran RB to fill that role instead, like we did with Harrison at OLB.

Garvin is a ST ace and a MLB backup, he has never shown that he could play OLB

Who said it was a mistake...let alone a "Titanic level mistake"? Really some people can't read. I like that we brought Harrison back. I say one comment about hoping he was brought back as a back up and we have 4 pages of apologists singing the praises of a guy who's best ball left a few years ago. And we wonder why the team has guys like Troy still starting.

But, I am rarely excited about bringing old vets back especially when we have some exciting younger guys in the wings. I believe at this point in their careers Moats>Harrison. I do like Harrison coming back to inject some mean into the D...man do I like that. I like that he is on the squad but only for depth. I hope Moats starts...and plays so well Harrison doesn't sniff the field. I'm not as nostalgic as some of you.

I have respect for what you are saying... just didn't make sense for you to attach my quote to your post.

That's a lot of nasty in one place at one time. If Greg Lloyd or Jack Lambert were to come to town now as well, then the town might just crumble from beneath our feet.
