    Who's Your Round 2 Pick? Round 3?

    Who would you take in round 2? round 3?

    According to the NFL.com best players remaining, 24 spots down the list are guys rated an 84. Here's the list of guys rated at 84:

    Jayron Hosley, CB, VA Tech
    Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
    Chris Polk, RB, Washington
    Kendall Reyes, DE, CT
    Billy Winn, DT, Boise State

    Going 32 players ahead from there, we'd be at guys rated a 77:

    Omar Bolden, CB, AZ State
    Alameda Ta'Amu, NT, Washington
    Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin

    If those were my choices, I'd take Jeffrey and Ta'Amu. I think Ta'Amu could be a nice fit. But I would worry Jeffery could be a Limas Sweed again.

    Looking at the NFL.com rankings, what I'd rather see us do is go up in the second to get Stephen Hill, WR, GA Tech, and down in the 3rd and grab Josh Chapman, NT. If we somehow added those 2 with Decastro, I think we'd have the best draft in the Tomlin era in a few short years.

    Although Hill could also be another Limas Sweed. Maybe we could trade up for Fleenor?

    MYCHAL KENDRICKS/David DeCastro were my two #1's

    So I'll be thrilled to see Kendricks in Rd 2 obviously.

    I think I had Jeff Allen/Mike Martin on my 2nd round.

    Josh Chapman was my 3rd, but if he won't last, I would be fine with him too.

    I DON'T think Alshon Jeffery is a good pick. A guy with his supposed talent (e.g. Limas Sweed) should not fail that far.

    I've heard names like LaMichael James... at this point (after getting DeCastro), whoever they deem worthy, I'll be happy with it I think.
    I wasn't hired for my disposition.

      Love the idea of Reyes! But Brandon Brooks & Bobby Wagner would make me happier...with Greg Childs in the 4th!

        Josh Chapman would be excellent for depth/future starting ability & Chadman's absolute favourite draftable player- Nigel Bradham would just be icing. A RB somewhere in the next 3 rounds makes sense.

                They have to address the defensive front seven with two of the next three picks!! There are needs up front and in the LB corp.

                  Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

                  We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

                  We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                    I wanted DeCastro all along, and I was willing to give up our 2nd or 3rd round pick in order to get him. The fact that we got him and still have both of our day two picks is mindboggling...it almost seems unfair. To make things more fair , how about we combine that 2nd and 3rd rounder so we have only one day two pick (like I expected to have if we got DeCastro).

                    The trade value chart says that combining our 2nd and 3rd round pick could get us to #40, which is owned by the Panthers. The Panthers do not have a 3rd round pick, because they traded it to Chicago in the Greg Olsen deal (and that pick was moved again from the Bears to the Dolphins in the Brandon Marshall trade), so a rebuilding team like Carolina should be more than willing to reclaim a prime pick that they traded away. It also gets you one spot ahead of the Bills, who should be targeting one of these guys after taking CB Gilmore at #10 instead of a much-needed o-lineman.

                    The #40 pick is the 8th pick of the second round. Imagine if Cordy Glenn (another guy many would have been willing to trade up for in the first) were available when the 8th pick in round 2 came up? Would you trade our 2nd and 3rd to get BOTH DeCastro and Glenn (a concept that would have seemed to be beyond ridiculous a few short hours ago)? What if DeCastro's Stanford teammate Jonathan Martin (a guy I did trade up for in our Board Mock Draft) were still available at #40? Imagine reuniting those two on the same line in the pros. It is not out of the realm of possibility for one of these seemingly-first-round-locks a day ago to be available after the first 7 picks have been taken in round 2.

                    Remember, guys like Hill/Randle/Jeffery are still available and both the Rams and Browns need WR help badly...Fleener is still available and Indy would love to reunite Luck and Coby...that's 3 picks already. I think the Ravens could go Konz as a guy who could replace Grubbs now at guard and replace Birk at center when he hangs 'em up sooner rather than later. There are also some prime d-lineman available too, and if a team is willing to take a risk they could get a top 15 level talent in Janoris Jenkins at corner. Seriously, at this point, it wouldn't be surprising at all Glenn or Martin could be there at 40...you wanna go get him and fix this OL once and for all?

                    Okay, now I have to force myself to go to bed. Work beckons in the morning.

                        I'll stick to my mock, but to add to those guys, I would love to see any of the following:

                        Brooks, an OT, David, Kendricks or Wagner.

                        Kiper did a round 2 mock and had the Steelers taking Devon Still, with Lamar Miller going a few picks later to GB and Derek Wolfe right after that to the Ravens.

                          If they really like a DT still on the board, I hope they will go get him. If not sit and wait. But trade a couple late round picks to get a 4th or 5th next year.

                            Wow...could you imagine if we got BOTH DeCastro and Glenn. That would be a draft haul of epic proportions. I'm all in.

                              There is no way I'd take another OL in the next two rounds. If the FO does it, I'll defer to their judgement. But the age of our D and the softness in the middle of it should be addressed sooner rather than later, IMO.

                              While DeCastro will probably start at the beginning of the season because he's that good, a D player we get probably won't. They will need to do their apprenticeship like most players on our D have to do. It's important to take somebody who can QB the D or plug the hole at NT.
