To make things more fair , how about we combine that 2nd and 3rd rounder so we have only one day two pick (like I expected to have if we got DeCastro).

The trade value chart says that combining our 2nd and 3rd round pick could get us to #40, which is owned by the Panthers. The Panthers do not have a 3rd round pick, because they traded it to Chicago in the Greg Olsen deal (and that pick was moved again from the Bears to the Dolphins in the Brandon Marshall trade), so a rebuilding team like Carolina should be more than willing to reclaim a prime pick that they traded away. It also gets you one spot ahead of the Bills, who should be targeting one of these guys after taking CB Gilmore at #10 instead of a much-needed o-lineman.

The #40 pick is the 8th pick of the second round. Imagine if Cordy Glenn (another guy many would have been willing to trade up for in the first) were available when the 8th pick in round 2 came up? Would you trade our 2nd and 3rd to get BOTH DeCastro and Glenn (a concept that would have seemed to be beyond ridiculous a few short hours ago)? What if DeCastro's Stanford teammate Jonathan Martin (a guy I did trade up for in our Board Mock Draft) were still available at #40? Imagine reuniting those two on the same line in the pros. It is not out of the realm of possibility for one of these seemingly-first-round-locks a day ago to be available after the first 7 picks have been taken in round 2.

Remember, guys like Hill/Randle/Jeffery are still available and both the Rams and Browns need WR help badly...Fleener is still available and Indy would love to reunite Luck and Coby...that's 3 picks already. I think the Ravens could go Konz as a guy who could replace Grubbs now at guard and replace Birk at center when he hangs 'em up sooner rather than later. There are also some prime d-lineman available too, and if a team is willing to take a risk they could get a top 15 level talent in Janoris Jenkins at corner. Seriously, at this point, it wouldn't be surprising at all Glenn or Martin could be there at 40...you wanna go get him and fix this OL once and for all?

Okay, now I have to force myself to go to bed. Work beckons in the morning.
I like your thinking. I think the Ravens will take Kendricks (or maybe Glenn). But, I'd take whomever they don't!
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Still there bunch. Here is an easy to understand list of players available for rd 2.
      18 Courtney Upshaw DE/ 21 Cordy Glenn OT/ 26 *Jerel Worthy DT/ 28 *Jonathan Martin/ 29 *Stephen Hill WR/ 31 Coby Fleener TE/ 32 Devon Still DT/ 34 *Rueben Randle/ 36 Kendall Reyes DT/ 37 *Peter Konz C/ 38 Amini Silatolu OG/ 39 Andre Branch DE/ 40 Mike Adams OT/ 41 Lavonte David OLB/ 42 *Bobby Massie OT/ 43 Vinny Curry DE/ 45 *Alshon Jeffery WR/ 48 Janoris Jenkins CB/ 49 Bobby Wagner OLB/ 50 *Josh Robinson/ 51 Brandon Boykin CB/ 53 *Dwayne Allen TE/ 54 Tyrone Crawford DE/ 55 Kelechi Osemele OT/ 56 Brandon Thompson/ 57 Mychal Kendricks ILB/ 59 Jamell Fleming CB/ 60 *Chris Givens WR/ 61 *Lamar Miller RB/ 62 Trumaine Johnson CB/ 63 Brandon Brooks OG/ 64 *Mohamed Sanu WR/ 65 Kirk Cousins QB/ 66 Zach Brown OLB/ 67 Brian Quick WR/ 68 *Ronnell Lewis OLB/ 69 Isaiah Pead RB/ 70 Jared Crick DE/ 71 Chris Polk RB/ 72 Casey Hayward CB/ 73 Jeff Allen OT/ 74 Marvin Jones WR/ 75 *LaMichael James

----- This was from CBS so those rankings are probably nfldraftscout.

A lot of the players in the boards mocks are there. Should be able to grab a good one here too. At least 20 of those players have been mentioned here. The position options are pretty much. If the Steelers don't do a double OL OL then you got both RB's everyone is talking there, plus a number of LB's, and lately the reality that DB's are in play here too. Options galore here!

Going a little further the next bunch of players is the same deal. Almost all highly valued by the board and should be available.

I noticed that several players that visited are right there in that grouping. Yeah, this should be an interesting day.

Can someone figure out how we can get Mitchell Schwartz, Greg Childs and Derek Wolfe in that rd. While you're at it throw in Ron Brooks, Mike Martin and Josh Chapman too. LOL

I don't see our defense as being so old. Everyone said it was last year bc they were talking about Smith, Hampton and Kiesel starting. While Kiesel will still be there, we did just draft two guy in the first round to play DL. Add in that Woodley isn't so old, Timmons is in his prime and we just drafted two young corners, I don't see the age thing as being as significant as our UTTER LACK OF TALENT on the O-Line.

I agree. I think the old issue is a probelm because LeBeau doesn't let the young players on the field even to give the starters a breather. The only place on the "D" where I would say age is an issue and injury potential is a major problem is at Safety.

So that's not an issue at NT?

I have more confidence in a McLendon/Hood rotation than most. We can add a developmental NT in Round 5. NT in the traditional sense in becoming a 2-down position. Not sure that warrants a Round 1-3 pick.

Nice tiers. Myself, I'd swap Jeffery (his 2010 tape shows he can be potentially dominant with decent quarterbacking) and Adams (I just don't like him on the field or off the field, regardless of the talent that everyone else sees), though.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

No sure I agree but that's valid. I really think Chapman could be a good player for us. Just seems like an underrated, blue collar player that is going to be a solid, dependable player.

Like your list except for Still. IMO he has high bust potential and I'm a PSU fan.

I hear ya. I'm kind of torn on Jeffrey. He did have a great 2010. However, this season he played the entire season overweight, got kicked out of the bowl game for fighting, and (according to the media) has a sense of entitlement and did not show well in interviews at the combine. Furthermore, and most importantly, he does not get great separation. I would not hate the pick in the second round, but I wouldn't love it either as there are other big WRs that we could possibly get in the 3rd or 4th round like Childs and McNutt. Fuller and other could also be available later.

I don't know why I value Adams. I should know better as I've seen him play many times. But, he is very talented. He has top ten talent and plays a very valuable position. I feel like he could turn out to be an elite LT if Kugler could get through to him.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.
