Except in crunch time... he's been very mediocre. That is the big knock.

You have legit NFL QBs and you have good college QBs playing in the NFL...Pickett is squarely in the latter category.
      Nailed it. I agree.

You don't have to agree with them, but I would disagree with you if you say they don't exist.

I think I misread your initial post.

I do agree that there are people that think he didn't get a shot (or at least not a fair one).

And while I don't know how to define "fair", I think it's reasonable to say that the shot Pickett had was made harder by the situation he was in.

Orrrr the situation he was in was created by his ineptitude. Who knows.

Great he could do that, but nothing eye-popping that made you sit up and say, "that's special".

Fields does that all the time, he just also has too many negative plays. Hoping they can scheme around them if he ever gets a shot to play.

While I had concerns about KP, particularly his happy feet and roll out to the left predictability - I was prepared to give him a 3rd season without Canada before making a final judgement. I believe the Steelers had exactly the same mindset UNTIL the Broncos handed them a QB for no money down. While I wish Kenny had behaved a bit more professionally last season when he regained his health, I don't necessarily blame him for being upset about losing his starting job. And I don't blame him for being upset they grabbed Russell.

Sometimes things just don't work out. I think the Steelers are in a much better position with QB than they were a month ago. I think KP will likely never be a teams starting QB unless the #1 has gone down. I think that presser he gave today will be his last one for quite awhile. I think both Russell and Fields have something to prove and will ball out this year. I think Khan will make one more splash and grab a new WR. I think the Steelers have a 2 year window with the number of rookies on their offense on rookie contracts - to make a legitimate run. That's IF our 2 new QB's can be the QB's we hope they are. But if we can support them with a strong running game and a stout defense with ILB now seemingly improved, I think that's a real possibility.

But I also remember what I thought at the end of training camp last year...........so there's that.

First time Kenny runs the tush push, he?ll probably get injured.

KP still might figure out how to play in a better system, but he?s been injury prone to this point and I don?t see how you can rely on him to stay healthy.

So I rarely take anything coming from Andrew Filliponi with great confidence...but it is still worth discussing.

Rumor: The Saints offered the Steelers a 5th round pick and a future late round pick for Kenny Pickett. But the Steelers took the Eagles package instead.

If this rumor has any merit, it does give some meat to the notion that the malcontents/troublemakers were kind of/sort of getting punished. I highly doubt that the Steelers would do this but it makes you wonder just how bad things got between KP/Steelers.

I did listen to the PM team as they dissected his press conference yesterday. I did kind of agree with them beneath the responses there was bad blood there.

I just kind of hope this rumor is not true because I think the Steelers should focus on getting as much draft capital as possible and the Saints, I believe would provide them more value.

Kenny isn’t doing the tush push, thats a Hurts thing. I do remember Kenny getting some dirt in his eye on a QB sneak
where I thought he was injured.

Meh.. gotta remember there was a report Philly wanted Fields (makes sense given how he and Hurts play the position). If we send him to the Saints and Philly scoops up Fields we just have Russ.

I actually think Philly is where Kenny wanted to go since its close to home and he grew up a fan. Maybe I’m bias but I think we did Kenny a solid since we kinda lied to him and did him dirty once Russ was available.

Doesn't this say that we took the deal with the highest compensation? That deal looks worse than the one we got IMO.

Moving up from the 4th to the 3rd like we did was equal to a 4th on trade charts. That's better than a 5th (particularly if the commentary that the class this year isn't very good in the late rounds)

And we got 2x 7th rounders.

So it sounds to me like trading with the Eagles gave us (1) more value this year and (2) probably more value next year (assuming the late next year was a 6th or 7th).

Yeah, I really wonder if in the end after all other contenders chose other options it was just us and Philly for Fields and we just took them out of the running by trading Kenny to them.

If Khan actually did that with that intention it was BRILLIANT.
