1 . Yes I believe the Steelers are looking at Mason for the staring job in 2024

      2. Yes, but if we offer a 2 year deal with a third year option ( 40 million for two years ) this should be enough to keep him. Mason is likely to stay as no other offense will feature as good as skill players as he has on the Steelers. Unless an insane offer of 30M+ a year comes his way, we should be able to keep him. I doubt 8 million a year will be his best offer!

      3. Yes, he started 4 games vs. a 9-8, 9-8, 13-4 and 11-6 teams. The Quality of competition was good, better than what others have had in the past two years and 3 of 4 games where on the road. His QBR, total yards thrown, and scoring with the offense was very good. He didn't play an MVP level, but his value to the team should not be understated.

      4. I prefer to look at it this. How much better will Mason be when he has OC and has a full camp as the QB1.
Khan should be fired on the spot if he offers Mason 2/$40 mill.

Who the hell is offering him $30 Mill?

That?s SB win, Nick Foles money.

This man didn?t even win a playoff game. Why in the world would anyone offer Mason $20 to $30 mill?

I?m seeing ESPN FA predictions with Minschew and Brissett getting 2 year $15 Mill total contracts. Aint no way Mason gets $20M per.

This is what I mean by mythical. Lets deal with reality, not fantasy football contract numbers.

This is not about Kenny. This thread is about Mason and FA. I actually believe Pittsburgh is Masons best chance to start next year and he will he affordable for us because the only people excited about Mason are Steeler fans and players.
        Fixed that for you.

Right? This thread is about Mason and the FA market. Has nothing to do with Kenny.

If anything, my post is hinting at Pittsburgh having a good chance to get Mason on the cheap due to little demand from FA.

I?m pretty confident the Steelers will sign Mason as long as he doesn?t get an insane offer from someone.

My guess is the team wants him to figure out what someone else will pay him and then will pay him slightly more.

At the end of the day, Mason has fixed the majority of his issues seemingly on his own and has proven he can play. Give him real 1st team reps and coaching and he?s only going to get better from here.

He?s always had the best arm. Now the mental side of the game has come together and I really don?t see any competition for him on this roster yet.

That said, Steelers will sign him and then go sign a rookie QB.

I think everyone will agree that Mason is worth at least the contract given to Mitch. He would be worth that much to stay with the Steelers. Perhaps a 3 year deal worth a potential 10M$ per with incentives.

Art II stated in his closing remarks that Mason provided quality QB play as opposed to Kenny needs to make a step forward. If Mason isn't back the Steelers will bring in somebody to compete with Kenny that's guaranteed.

unless Masons agent knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a GM he isn’t getting an insane offer.

Look at the FA board again

                  Cousins
                  Baker
                  Minschew
                  Sam Darnold
                  Brissett
                  Jameis
                  Tyrod
                  Mariota
                  Tannehill
                  Mason
                  Browning

You think Mason is near the top of other GM boards? That dude is still at the bottom. If he does have a buddy in Atlanta that is his best shot. I doubt most teams have Mason on speed dial.

Given his age and the fact that he hasn?t played too many games yet, I think Mason would be at the top of that list with Baker.

Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

                        Agreed to a point.
What I think you need to take into consideration when you make lists like these is to put a rough idea of what they would cost to sign behind their name.
(When I say you, I mean anyone comparing FAs) value .
If I wanted to win, I’d take cousins.
If I wanted a slightly above average starter, I’d look look at baker, minshew and browning and seeds who’s the cheapest. Same goes for backups.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Agreed on the price. That?s where I think MR might have the most value and no one is certain how high his upside is.

He could be as good or better than Cousins for a fraction of the price.

yeah.. this is fan fantasy. No one is thinking “Mason barely played, lets give him the job”

Baker is staying in Tampa. They would be foolish to move on after last year.

Mason is not ahead of Minschew either.

Oh I think we know Minschew's ceiling. We are not sure of Mason. Straight up I'm going with Mason.

Cousins is too much money. I have Mason above Mariota. The only one on that list who will be considered might be Tannehill. I wonder what he would cost? 15M$ per.
