Tomlin is shook and obsolete without profound structural changes to his staff and the way it operates. If we have to bring in a superior mind on offense to right the ship and have a mandate from Art to Tomlin that he doesn't interfere, why not just start completely over? What are we holding onto at this point with a relic of the Steelers' past? He's dragging the franchise through the mire of mediocrity. If they can somehow get anything for him, great. But moving on in the main thing now. He may want to move on, as said he looks shook.

Agreed 100%. I mentioned in another thread that Tomlin managed to mostly keep a lid on the AB situation for years, to the point that nobody outside knew how bad it was. I think he is either unable, or no longer has the energy to tackle the DJ/Pickens situation. Maybe he needs a new start elsewhere, but he is no longer willing or able to do it in Pittsburgh.
I think that it's probably much, much harder to do when you don't have a passing offense.

It's easier to keep AB happy when we're throwing a bunch and the guy throwing the ball is good.

I think an average QB with a reasonable scheme fixes the WR problem quickly. But we can't do either of those things at this point in the season.

My vote is for him to go. But IMO, whether he stays or goes at this point, is the least of our problems in the near term (~3 years).

What we need is a talented, intelligent, modern-thinking offensive coordinator who is empowered to design and run the offense. If that happens under Tomlin, we can improve SIGNFICANTLY. But Tomlin has to be willing (or instructed) to make this happen.

yeah ... I used to buy into the mantra that no other coach could've handled AB, but now I'm suspecting you may be right.

not saying that handling those huge egos would be easy, but at some point, you can't just be the player's buddy and put your arm around them and have a heart-to-heart talk with them, you actually have to enforce discipline

AB should've been strongly dealt with after the locker room facebook incident -- he wasn't

DJ and Pickens both should have been benched, for half a game or so, this season ... and fined for lack of effort (don't know if that could legally happen, but it ought to)

Not to mention the antics of other players that have been allowed over the past few years

I wouldn't expect him to want to go to most of the franchises in the NFL, for fear of being exposed
