that happens with coaching changes... didn't Peezy have problems when Tomlin came along? Seems like that's why they had to go get Woodley right away...

      Yep.

Just like Cowher, you want good to great coordinators. Both guys have the primary skill of motivation / relationship management. And personally, I think that's very important for HCs in the current era.

It's also why the Blount situation was so disappointing. Relationship management is Tomlin's "super power".

Peezy played here in 2006. Was that Tomlin's 1st year? Or was it 2007? I think 2007. And Peezy was a Fin. So Peezy missed out of the Super Bowl win in 2008.

Yea, but he's faltered there as well, maybe not his fault, maybe just dealing with problem players in Blount, Harrison, AB and others.

I think you just nailed it - they are both similar in motivation and relationship management; and both need(ed) superior coordinators as neither is seen as an x's and o's guru.

I think the defense is acceptable, but Canada needs to improve significantly or this team will have no success (at least what WE expect as success)

I may be misremembering, but... iirc, Peezy didn't want to play for Tomlin (AT ALL) so his services weren't retained... he was just too vocal as "one of Cowher's guys".

Instead, he drafted Woodley, but started Harrison (who was behind Porter and Haggans)...

Think about and remember the NFL coverage, broadcast, ect in the 1990s and compare what it is today.

Direct TV didn't start NFL ticket until 1994. The internet was dial up. Ect. Ect ect.

Was Peezy the one that said he only wanted to play for a HC that had played in the NFL?

Maybe you need to accept that most Steeler fans weren?t watching KC games like that so the city wasn?t familiar with Cowher.

You can act like its some triumph to declare that you watched all the games in 1989 but the reality is most folks weren?t tuning in to see KC AND most Steeler fans back then weren?t tuning in to see who the KC coordinators were.

Seems like an easy thing to accept unless you don?t want to believe folks who lived in Pittsburgh at the time.

even now, most fans will know the names of most teams best players but ask who the coordinators are for those teams and more than half won?t know all of them.

In your own ignorance you attempted to compare the NFL/sports world of today to the sports world of 30+ years ago.

kinda feels like he believes since he knew who Cowher was the whole city of Pittsburgh should've known.

that isn't how this works.. lol

Regarding Porter, It was a lot easier cutting him knowing they had a a lot cheaper guy in James Harrison ready to start. If I recall correctly Colbert came out and basically said yeah it sucks but we need the cap space and Joey was on his last year of his contract and he was over 30.

Regarding the actual topic of the thread. I 100% want more. A playoff run, a SB appearance, Number 7. something more than what the last several years have brought. But the non losing season deal is in itself impressive.
