I knew who Cowher was before he was hired as HC. I was a football Junkie back then and he was from Pittsburgh.

        ta daaaaaaa

i'd figure anyone posting on a steeler message board would consider themselves more knowledgably then an average football fan.
then again, i doubted these two to be lifelong steeler fans and more of the tomlin steeler fans

but that doesn’t nullify the point that most fans in Pittsburgh didn’t know who he was..

I don’t give a dam if he does… that was never the point. Funny how he is fine with the team finding Cowher but acts
like the Rooneys picked Tomlin out of guilt.

as much as the 5 pages of penis envy has amused me - to the original post and the article from cleveland......

I find it hysterically funny the author is saying the steelers luck will run out and sooner or later they'll have a losing season - all the while overlooking the irony in that cleveland despite having some decent teams and good players hasn't had a whiff of luck to prevent their annual descent into last place.

Hey, they had their 2020 season (11-5), in which they had a winning season AND they beat us in the playoffs. (Other than that their last wining record was in 2007 and last one before that was 2002). 3 winning seasons in 25 years.

The fact is this, Tomlin will always have a job in the Burgh no matter what. It doesn?t matter how mediocre his teams have become. The standard is the standard and the new standard is average. Middle of the pack is now good enough.

Art II has often referenced a "winning record" as must be "good enough." He did so when talking about Mason Rudolph and Trubisky. "Well, he has a winning record."

The floor with Tomlin is 9-8 or 8-.

I think the Rooneys are fine with that given Ben was at the end of his career and Kenny just completed his rookie season.

Its obvious now that Colbert is gone and we cleared the books we are serious about making a run.

I doubt he is extended at the end of the season if we go 9-8 or worse and miss the playoffs.

you don’t think Tomlin will be extended? He could lose every game and be given a 5 year extension. No way the Rooneys make a move on “every blade of grass” Tomlin.

Wait, you "doubt" Tomlin would be extended with a 9-8 record? Woa, way off course, he'd be extended for sure with a 9-8 record, or worse. Noll and Cowher survived worse records than that. Tomlin has a long enough leash for years of 9-8 football. Plus he has the whole "Rooney Rule" thing going for him.

On paper they have improved this season more so than any I can recall.

The excuses are gone. They need to at least make the playoffs this year. Win a playoff game.
