I think its different when you make moves for a proven vet in the backend of their career. Jets just drafted a rookie QB 2 years ago 2nd overall and already gave up on him for Rodgers. Might as well take a shot since you screwed up the draft pick. Do you know any Jets fans who hate this signing? ESPN talking head Greenie said people were congratulating him like he just had a baby at the draft when they found out the Jets officially got Rodgers.
I think the outcome they are thinking about the most is next season's ticket sales.

And letting your NFL-MVP QB walk will not be good for ticket sales.

I would have signed Lamar too. I probably would have tried to do it earlier than they did (although reportedly Lamar wanted to wait...smartly as it turned out).

But I wouldn't have done it expecting to consistently compete for SBs. I would have done it expecting to put asses in seats (which would be more important to me as a GM).

I would also be really disappointed / pissed off that my team had such terrible injury luck while Lamar was cheap.

are you trying to say a team doesn?t want to win ( one of your quotes) when the QB is older? In his 15th season?
Teams want to win, unless they are tanking or starting their rebuild.

At 15 years most teams are leaning towards rebuilding/reloading which makes sense.

It's cost vs value at that point and more times than not there is more value in moving on from a 15 year vet than sticking with him.

Lamar still has a really good winning percentage when he plays. You sign QB's who have high winning percentages because it gives you the best chance to make the playoffs which gives the team a chance to win a SB.

your attempts to move the goalposts on all of your wrong prediction are sad and pathetic.

Brown left because of Greg Roman. He is a run heavy OC.

People like SM fail to realize Lamar came from a spread offense in college until his last year.

Lamar was beast passing the ball in college and running the ball.

And he's missed more than 2/3 of a season over the last two years.

And it's likely that his best skill fades rapidly with age.

He'll have to reinvent himself as his elite athleticism fades. Just like Ben did when his elite ability to turn into the Hulk faded. And just like Ben, I think it will be unlikely that he's as good as he was when he was younger. And that contract will eventually become an albatross. Just like Ben. But unlike Lamar, Ben won early.

My guess is that Lamar will be like Ben in mid to late career (and most QB careers are shorter than Ben's). Competitive, but unable to win against the best in the better conference. But it's only a guess (I'd like to think it's an educated one).

I know what Lamar did/was in college. College is college. Did Tim Tebow make it in the NFL? He was in college too.

Lately the site turns apostrophes into question marks when you quote someone.

I only laugh at typos when someone is trying to insult someone or call them names.

Those type of typos are funny to me because the person making it is trying to ridicule another poster’s intelligence while misspelling a word.

you tried to apply Ben’s 15th year to a debate about signing a QB to their first huge deal.
