It's extremely difficult to win a SB or even getting there, so setting that as your basis for success is a tad far fetched. I'll take a coach who can get his team into the Conference Championship game on a frequent basis and be ecstatic with anything above it. Reid got the Eagles there or beyond 5 times in his 14 seasons there, and now he's accomplished that with KC 5 years in a row.
10 Conference Championship appearances in 24 seasons of coaching is actually an amazing accomplishment, and he is only the 3rd coach in NFL history to have 10+, (Laundry and Hoodie are the others)Last edited by crushedspirit; 02-13-2023, 02:57 PM.Comment

Maybe Mcnabb was just a choke artist.
puking in the huddle trying to drive down the field for the winning score ??
sounds like he wasn’t made for that type of pressure.Comment

I said the same thing at the end of last season. It's one thing to make that bad of mistake. But if the team doesn't review and understand where they went wrong it's double damning. There was some scouting staff changes this season so maybe that was an outcome of it?Comment

I guess they thought Greene offered near similar value as Creed and they believed Harris and PF would be gone by the 3rd round?Comment

at least there's someone coaching at a varsity level
Reid is just on a different level when it comes to understanding offense, adjusting to what the D shows them, and just overall game planning and scheming.Comment

Agreed. I think Shanahan is close to Reid in that aspect. Watching the Rams this year and they never seemed as innovative as in previous years; I'm going to attribute that to losing Kevin O'Connell to the Vikings.Comment

it had a lot more to do with the amount of injuries the Rams had on their OL, they were down to 3rd and 4th stringers.Comment

Rams opened against the Bills; and they didn't look right from the start. Before the injuries. Granted they lost Wentworth from the O-line from the previous season but they just didn't look right opening night..no innovativeness whatsoever.Comment

FWIW I think the Depot guys also talk about how in the Colbert era you can tell if we're going to draft guys in the 1st or 2nd by who send to the pro-days.
1st round guys we have Tomlin and / or Colbert (often both).
2nd round guys, I think they say probably one of those guys or a coordinator or position coach. For example, in the same draft our TE coach worked out PF and Tomlin and Colbert were there in person to watch.
We already knew Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert were attending Penn State's Thursday Pro Day. Now we know the third and final member they brought along.
This is why Dave had been saying for the entire lead up to the draft "If PF is there in the 2nd, the Steelers are almost certain to take him".
So while it seems like it's technically untrue that we "didn't send anyone to Creed H's proday"...there's a stark difference in the interest between PF (TE coach, GM, HC) and Humphrey (assistant OL coach). The PF pick (which was a good pick) was a classic Steelers pick where it seems like we had on name on our board for that round. Similar to Connor Heyward (which I think also looks like a good value pick at that point).
I don't think we were seriously interested in Humphrey in the 2nd. If he made it to the 3rd, then maybe. That's when the depot guys talk about the representation at the prodays being position coaches IIRC.Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 02-14-2023, 09:10 AM.Comment

Wasn't the consensus that McVay was the offensive guru for the Rams?Comment
