THIS IS WHY I BROUGHT UP MONTANA. And Brady. That is a good explanation and I appreciate the clarification. What I will say at this stage in KPs career is that I am indeed impressed with his poise under pressure. That's HUGE. No one can take that away from him. My question is (and was when we drafted him)...can we win a SB with him? As stands, I see a guy who has a franchise caliber mindset and poise under pressure. At this point in his career, I do not see a guy who can compete with the likes of Mahomes, Allen or any other elite passing team. Sooo, in order for the Steelers to sniff a SB, a few things need to happen. Either KP continues to grow and becomes more productive in the passing game (for 4 quarters), or the D and running game are top 5. Right now, the D and running game will need to keep games close. If that can happen, I do believe the Steelers can win a SB with him. And I agree that you don't need a Favre arm to win a SB. You don't need a Mahomes type QB to win a SB (but it really helps). You do need a clutch QB with a very strong running game and D supporting him.
Your cap on what Kenny can become is based on PHYSICAL TRAITS the GOATS of their eras do not have.
This is why people underestimated them, and they SURPASSED players with much more ideal physical gifts.
So I do not understand how you can not learn from the history two of the BEST QBs YOUVE EVER SEEN that physical gifts can be overcome based on-

You follow that with using LESSER ACCOMPLISHED QBS than Montana or Brady as examples of QBs that Kenny can't beat.
It makes no sense.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 01-03-2023, 02:12 PM.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I really think our injured rookie will KILL with Kenny, if we run better yac routes.
That tiny kid gets open CRAZY QUICK, and is a yac monster.sigpic

I just think that picking 2 of the best 5 or so QBs ever to play the game is kind of overkill (and borderline crazyTHIS IS WHY I BROUGHT UP MONTANA. And Brady.

) as comparisons.
I think someone like Alex Smith is currently a better comp. And it's not like Smith was a bad QB. Just not an all time great. And like Kenny, he was much better at short accurate passing than big plays (kind of like the anti-Ben...before Ben got old).
I don't remember how athletic Smith was though. So maybe that's a place where KP is better...although that's true of Brady too, who was never really that athletic.Comment

I think this makes sense.
Given his strengths a shifty underneath, always open, slot guy seems like the perfect fit for KP.
But I also would have thought that DJ would be really benefiting from this too and that hasn't happened for whatever reason. Seems like KP just trusts Pickens more (and Pickens has earned that trust too IMO).Comment

Now you don't even make sense.... (Prolly wasn't a great idea to template that... One size rarely fits all....)

First, two game winning drives doesn't make KP Montana or Brady. He hasn't won a playoff game or a SB. He hasn't done it when the lights are brightest. But, yes the arrow is pointing up when it comes to his poise and clutch. Saying he has the same stuff as two of the greatest is getting wayyyy ahead of yourself. How about we take a deep breath, root for our team and KP and pray he can pass for more than 200 yards in a playoff game before giving him a yellow jacket.THIS IS WHY I BROUGHT UP MONTANA. And Brady.

Edit-Did you know the Ravens pass D is 24th in passing yards allowed and 25th for passing completion?Last edited by Shawn; 01-03-2023, 10:21 PM.Trolls are people too.Comment

You should have caught me when I was living right down the street from Heinz Field... I used to walk to tailgates all the time... The GOOD tailgates would set up sofas and TV's right in Lot C... better view, I think.... beer didn't cost $5, either...Comment
