Pickett so far is just a baker Mayfield

Realistically how many Steelers rookies have come in and played lights out as a rookie? It’s not many.Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment

My one footnote with KP is that he's badly hamstrung by an OC that doesn't seem to know how to put an offense together. How many times do we have to see NH run wide before they understand that isn't his strong suit. And look at the receiver routes. Three quarters of them are patterns where the receiver is at a dead stop to catch the ball. Where are the anticipation throws that KP is supposed to be good at? And Why do they continue to ignore half the field in the passing game? That 4th and 1 play that had the motion penalty was absolute silliness. Line up and move some bodies.Never seen an offense like this.Last edited by NorthCoast; 10-24-2022, 07:40 AM.Comment

ok before we all get carried away...HOF QB Peyton Manning in his rookie year
It's one game, and my response is "Exactly"IND 19 32 309 1 3 4 17 78 63.2 1 7 0 7 0 0 0 0

PS
Mr. Manning's first 3 games
2 TD's 8 Int's
First 4 games:
3 TD's 11 Int's
So before we go running around and say the sky is falling let's remember even the greats sometimes start off badly.

Even though it's very unlikely for any QB to become P Manning. And there's a lot of survivorship bias looking at all the QBs with bad starts and saying "Manning had a bad start too".
We have to keep playing him and see how he develops.Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 10-24-2022, 08:09 AM.Comment

This is the same O we ran under Fichtner and the same we will run under Sullivan. It's Mike Tomlin's "possess the ball, don't turn it over" offense.
Surprised more don't see this.Comment

The 2022 QB class was always known to be a down class and 2023 was evaluated as significantly better. That is why I had an issue taking KP in Round 1, but he is our guy so hoping for the best. If we get a Top 5 pick I think it is possible we do what Arizona did when they took Kyler Murray the year after they took Rosen. Wasn't Rosen also anointed as the most NFL ready QB in his draft classLast edited by Oviedo; 10-24-2022, 08:21 AM."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

I'm honestly a little surprised at all the negativity being thrown at Pickett, I thought he played great for the most part. He is a rookie playing in his what, third game and on the road? Here is what he is dealing with -
- Worst OC in football, Canada should be fired after last night.
- Offense can't run the ball with any consistency.
- Outside of Pickens, the Steeler WRs are playing like bums.
- Just like last season it looks like the offense doesn't even practice, Pickett brought up practice issues and some fans laughed it off or minimized what he said, lot of miscues and players not being on the same page like Claypool not correctly sitting in the zone, etc.
- Pickett has 6 INTs so far this season but that's misleading, Claypool fell down on the first INT last night, DJ doesn't even try to contest the last INT. I believe an earlier INT this season was a Hail Mary. He is a rookie that is basically getting virtually no help on offense right now.Comment

He's our horse...need to ride him but need to do a brutal eval of what he does performance wise. If we continue to try to blame all failures on everyone else, he is likely NOT the guy long term. I hope that's not the case because he seems like a good kid who wants to succeed. However, does anyone have the same feeling we had watching rookie Big Ben when we watch KP? I don't."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

No idea what he was thinking with that last pass. Trying to do too much. I think if he runs he has a chance to score or at least clock it for one more play.Steelers 27

He's a new QB, he will learn. Go back and look at other rookie QBs stats their first year. Ben was the exception, but he also came to a stacked team with great coaches.
Kenny will be fine, but we need a new OC and better WRs.Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!
I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.Comment

I think he played pretty well last night. A couple of bad throws, but the most important thing is he seems to have a really good command of the offense. Calm, poised, etc. Most of his throws are dead nuts accurate. Imagine what he could do if we had coaches that could actually scheme receivers open, and not just call jump balls down the sidelines?Comment
