Just a half of game, but WOW did the Steelers offense and fans respond. It seems like Kenny has innate leadership and a playing style involving throwing it deep and over the middle. The guys respond to it. You can't measure leadership. He has " it " . He makes up his mind quickly and locates the open man. He throws well on the run too. And he can get outside run for yardage, picking up first downs. His arm? Well, the deep pass to Claypool was under thrown and showed a below-average arm, but we deal with that later. It is unfortunate that the receivers cause the interceptions and two of them we not on the QB.
More on how Pickett transforms the offense over Trudsiky. ( spelled that way unpurpose ).
Pickens has come alive. He's our #1 receiver now
, not the overpaid and inconsistent-handed Johnson. He's the # 2 receiver. Pickens will bring the big play ability to the team. The Steelers badly need that. Not that Johnson is bad at what he does, but we need short passing too, and he is quick and runs nice routes. And we have a talented tight end who will be given a chance now to operate over the middle, giving defenses another thing to think about. This is a re-birth of the Steelers offense, Trubisky plays not to lose for the entire game! Fantasy geeks might want to pick up our new #1 receiver and dangerous tight end if they are available. I didn't mention Harris is the passing game. His cactches are going down. Good, he wasn't a real factor anyway. And Claypool is at best or 4th option but Pickett will give the big and fast but can't separate an inconstant receiver to do his best stuff.
Pickett is a rookie, so he's going to make mistakes. Tomlin should take off the training wheels on him at let him play and develop, er I mean Canada and the other coaches. I didn't see Tomlin talking to his rookie at all! I saw a man in dark shades chewing gum, making it harder for one-on-one communication with the players. That's lack of sideline coaching.
Anyway, I don't care about losing to the Jets. Buffalo is next, and 1-4 will be a death sentence for our playoff chances. The season is pretty much lost, but the offense is going to be better, and as Pickett develops, so will the Steelers.
