If the offense fumbles at their own 1, do you blame the defense for not stopping the opponent if they score a TD? I don't. That 7 goes squarely on the offense, IMO.

I'm not saying that I agree with LPMAN on this one, but my point is, there IS a grey area. That's kinda the point of these last few pages anyway.

You probably don't even realize the Steelers offense had MINUS SEVEN yards of offense in the 4th quarter last night. We took the lead while losing yards. Bubby Brister is even laughing at our offense right now.

I watched it. But it kinda proves my point. Offense was ass and the D got the W. Just because the O is bad doesn't mean the D also has to be bad as well.

I know it puts more stress on the D when the O plays like this but if our D can play like this in the 4th quarter you really can't excuse their failure on the first drive of a game simply because the offense started at their 45 yard line.

NO, a win like that is an anomoly. The offense is suppose to be the offense. If Chubb doesn't go down we almost definetely lose last night with our pathetic offense. The Browns arnt the 49ers. Anybody gives the 49ers a bunch of short fields they are probably getting blown out

The offense was the strength in 2016 and paid handsomely. It was a top 5 offense and they shouldn't be held accountable for turnovers, giving away 6 points, turnover on downs anytime within 7 points?

Right now we still have one of the youngest offenses in the league. Our defense is one of the highest paid in the league. We should expect them to play like they are paid.

For his first playoff game? Maybe..

The issue is some of you were angry when Ben was winning while throwing less than 23 passes because he wasn’t getting the stats and praise you felt he deserves. Guy goes out and throws 70 times for a bunch of yards and TD’s in a loss and you want to hold it up as his best game ever.

I don’t need glossy stats in a loss to praise Ben. I praised him for his 2004 season, his playoff run in 2005, his last second heroics in 2008 and multiple other times when his gritty play got us W and even in 2016 when we lost to the Pats in the AFCCG.

What I don’t need to do is praise the Jags loss where he had TO’s, turnover on downs when down by 7 and the 75 garbage yards and last TD when the game was already decided.

again, I view a 12 year vet HOFer QB much harsher than a second year QB who has yet to play a full seasons worth of football.

I’ve gone on record bashing Picketts play thus far this year. No need to if and or but about what Ben did 6 years ago.

and lastly, that defense in the Jags game is not the same defense we have now. That D was meh, no real playmakers on it (Watt was young and hadn’t arrived yet). This D is one of the highest paid in the league. I expect more from this D just like we expected more from that high paid offense with Ben and the killer B’s.

Well ok at least you admit it. If PFT judges a players performance in a game they don't have handicaps based on experience & if they might go in the hall of fame. It's just bad, average, good, great etc.....taking away the name Ben Roethlisberger no one in their right mind would look at his performance vs Jax playoffs game & say he had a bad game. It's because it was Big Ben you expected perfection. I thought the opposite being vs the #1 D in the nfl he over perormed what i expected. your problem is focusing on stat lines and not game film.

Brady had 505 yards passing in a SB loss. No one talks about it because no one gives a damn when you lose.

You guys keep bringing up this Jags game like we blew a 21 point lead. We were chasing all game and passed the ball 60 times. Those who watched the game knows the last TD drive was garbage time stats.

Ben didn’t need to be perfect but he had a habit of turning the ball over early and starting slow in playoffs the second half of his career.

If we won that game its totally different story but when you are down big early, have turnovers that result in points, no one gives a damn about the stat line of the losing QB.

and Ben could’ve run a QB sneak. He was 12 years in. He wouldn’t get benched or traded. This is the same guy who would call fake snap plays to AB on his own. That QB sneak was pettiness by Ben AND Haley that probably cost us games.

What Hofer QB can’t call a QB sneak on his own in year 12? Cmon.. lol.
