Not sure that's a good argument, the 9ers scored 30 and had 20 at halftime.

You can't even grade an NFL defense when their offense goes 3-out every possesion of the first half except the last one. 5 straight 3-outs to start the game i'm suprised the entire defense didn't need oxygen masks.

2nd half other than the CMAC long td run which sucked they gave up 3 more points the rest of the game. So i'd say one main key to the D playing better is the offense not totally shiitting their pants. That correlation is there whether you realize it or not. And the 49ers first offensive TD was because after the Steelers made a 3-out stop the 49ers went for it on 4th down.....WHY MAY YOU ASK? Oh 3-out offense plus shanked punt meant the 49ers were in Steelers territory on 4th down without even having to gain a first down. defenses shouldn't have to defend a 4th down attempt on their 4th play on the field; it should be a punt & a successful 3-out job well done.

Niners offense wasn't trying all that hard in the second half. If they did then the game probably could have ended 45-7. They knew their defense would take care of business.

They're allowed to get stops before it gets to 5. They also had a long break at the end of the half and over halftime and got bent over on the very first drive on the 2nd half.

Not sure how the defense ACTUALLY looking fatigued is a bad argument.

But for giggles, did you catch the Time of Possession at halftime? Pretty sure SF had 21 of the 30 minutes in the half -- meaning the defense was on the field that much. Run over, chug your gatorade and run back...

Dude, the offense didn't even get a first down until the 2-minute drill at the end of the 1st. Before then, EVERY drive was 3 and out (actually one was a pick on 3rd so the defense couldn't even rest through the punt).

If you don't think that makes a difference, you aren't paying attention. It's been a problem for a few years with this crappy offense.

Throw in injuries in that game and it compounds the problem. Now, you have a tired Loudermilk trying to stop CMC...

They barely put up a fight in the first quarter. If they were gassed then something is wrong with their offseason program.

First SF drive: 3yd pass, 0 yd run, 11 yd pass, 9 yd run, 17 yd run, 8 yd pass; TD ...

Second SF drive: -1 yd run, 23 yd pass, 6 yd pass, incompletion (yea), 2 yd pass: FG

Thrid SF drive: 7 yd pass, 5 yd run, incompletion( yea), 11 yd run, 1 yd run, 10 yd pass, END OF QTR1

Teams are going to have scoring drives. Sometimes on consecutive drives. It happens.

Ideally, the offense gives you more than a 90 second break so you can catch your breath and not raise your hand 2 plays into the next drive

That is INCORRECT: First Drive 6,3,0,11 Steelers stopped them allowing juast 9 yards on first 3 plays....THREEE & OUT, EXCEPT Steelers went 3 & out PLUS shanked a punt so 49ers not even gaining a first down yet had the luxury to go for it on 4th & 1 because they were at our 45 yardline. 49ers shouldn't be at our 45 yardline not even gaining a first down yet except offense & special teams shiit the bed,. Defense should have walked off the field with a 3 & out & been congratulated.

Show us on the doll where you touched the Steeler defense.

They had the luxury of going for it on 4th and 1 because it was only 4th and 1. Maybe if TJ had showed up before it was 20-0 they would have punted. BTW, how did TJ play so well later after the offense ostensibly tired him out?

Are you really crying foul because they went for it? Teams go for it all the time on 4th & 1. Analytics tells them to do it. The yard line made the decision even easier.

Completely wrong? I missed one down. If that's what you are hanging on then good for you. No goalposts have been moved. The defense did little to stop them in a quarter (even half) of football. It's YOU trying to move a goal post by not counting a 4th down play against the defense.

people go for 4h and 1 a lot these days.. especially if at midfield.

D could’ve made a stand but they didn’t. It happens.

I think that was his point... they were at midfield by no fault of the defense... the O and ST put them at midfield.
