The RB never did jack shlt, not a thing, but he had a brother on the team. How's that list going? Tomlin gave a speech on signing brothers (right before he dumped brother Watt at FB, so I guess his points were not all that solid.

We will see how Herbig and Heyward do, they are due to do something. The other brothers have done jack shlt.
You overstate everything to an astronomical degree and you don't know what nepotism means. Nobody said Derek Watt was going to revolutionize the offense. Nepotism is about giving your own relatives some advantages, not looking at athletic lineages. They signed players like the Davis brothers and Edmunds RB brother as FAs. They didn't draft these players. Gave them a decent look and decided they couldn't help them. So what, they sign loads of FAs constantly and most of them don't make a difference. Why do you bust a gut because some of them have relatives in the league. I think that's moronic.

There probably are several NFL players in the league who have fathers, cousins or brothers who were athletes. I don't have time to look them up but it isn't uncommon, I'm sure. It's probably more uncommon for a player to have a parents or siblings with no athletic background. For instance I think even Kenny Pickett's father played college football.

So, I don't think it is dumb to look at athletic lineages at all. They drafted Heyward and Herbig which means they have a higher opinion of them they did of Trey Edmunds, who they signed as a FA. You are far off base continually attacking Connor Heyward, who made the team and did good things, is talented and will have an expanded role this year.

Steelers 2-a-days: Is DT Cameron Heyward ageless? Is TE Connor Heyward a ?slash? fullback?

Editor’s note: From the end of minicamp through the day the team reports to training camp at Saint Vincent College, the Trib will be running through the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 90-man roster, assessing each player’s outlook for the 2023 season. The breakdown will go through the roster in mostly-alphabetical order, (at

You just don't get it. Tomlin puts way too much weight on blood relations. Right after his video defending his "brother" decisions, he let Watt go. Which is it, Mike? He doesn't even know himself. Like most things, his decisions are based on "gut feels" instead of solid reasoning. He admits it.

Maybe this shows Tomlin doesn’t put that much on it since he released Edmunds and Watt..

some people are so stupid they defeat their own argument and don’t even see it.

I get it. I am even tempered in my thinking. You're a crazy extremist. Blood relations are a relatively small part of the make up of the team. They may acquire some players who have brothers or other relations on the team, to see if they are good, but they don't keep them on the roster forever for that reason. Your statement represents more mindless ranting.

its hilarious to see dude embellish Tomlin’s words and then get upset when he doesn’t follow through on something he never said.

but what really makes this extra hilarious is Watt being replaced with another sibling.

Lmao at acting like siblings shall retire Steelers because its some new Tomlin law.

and isn’t Khan and Weidl running the show since the draft went so well? How can any of this be????

                    Take the player's own words. This is why blood relations matter;

Legacy means a lot. I spent a large part of my adult life in the military and a proportionally high number of successful senior officers are the sons and daughters of senior officers. They don't get favoritism, but early in their careers it was easy to see they were far better prepared for knowing and understanding what was expected of them. They also grew up in an environment that they gained insights that someone who wasn't in that situation didn't. So yes it matters.

The funny thing about nepotism in the NFL.

“Just read their bio, that’s all you need. Remove the name and tell me what you have."

Nepotism would be Tomlin giving his son Dino a coaching job. Which IS common in the NFL but when I highlighted it regarding coaching in the NFL people on here pushed back against.

I actually would love to see Dino hired simply to see the hypocrisy from those who defended it and from those who say kids should be off limits.

We can blame Dino for Canada getting hired but when I point out Andy Reids son’s being wild child’s it was unfair and rude.

Funny enough, in the article I linked they said the Steelers are the only NFL team listed without a coach in staff who is related to a current or former NFL coach.
