He caught 12 balls and they're acting like he's the next superstar in the NFL...pump the brakes there a little.

How many balls did Gentry catch as a rookie? I believe it was 1 catch for 4 yards.

Connor was barely used as a rookie but good things happened when he got his hands on the ball.

I know positive articles are frustrating for some but I think he builds in his production in year 2.

Connor Heyward is very talented player and the Steelers made a smart selection when he was picked in the 6th round. He had very few opportunities and targets last season, but still managed a few highlight reel catches and invariably positive production. We can stop with maligning him as a short TE because this year he will no longer be limited to the TE position and will be used in various different ways, a hybrid H-back, fullback which is suited to his skills.

The only question is how can they get him involved more. They seem to be committed to giving Najee Harris a high percentage of the touches. Then there are the receivers and Freiermuth and the secondary back Warren. They are not going to be game planning much for Connor Heyward. But when he gets the ball he is going to be productive. Maybe not a "superstar", but he is going to make himself known.

Randle El? Everything will generally start and begin with KPs ability to execute the offense.

Well, building off 12 whole catches would be GREAT!

Not sure what you would expect from a guy that took 174 offensive snaps and only 17 targets on those snaps (12 catches, a 70% catch rate), and a 12.5 yard average per catch on the year. Hopefully, the numbers will get better this year, only so many footballs to go around on a per game basis. I think he proved he isn't a liability when he's on the field. That's a pretty good year for a 6th round draft pick.

Especially from a guy who was only drafted because of his last name. I give you Mike Tomlin, Mr. Nepotism; an outdated, antiquated way of doing business, but that's our head coach for you.

This is the big problem with you, you recite the same, weak anitiquated negative crap on and on. Connor Heyward was a very good football player at Michigan St. Now if Connor Heyward couldn't start at a Div II school and the Steelers still drafted him, you might actually be making sense. But because Heyward actually has talent, you're the psycho who posts the same way. A broken record, a one track mind.

Can you name a few Steeler players that you actually like? I know of one Warren.

And, just to be clear, how have the other nepostismistic signings of Tomlin's done. Just checking in. Davis brothers? Both sucked. Watt, well one is all world, the other? An overpaid FB who they were braggadocios on, claiming he was going to revolutionize the offense. How did he do for his $3.5 mill a year? 12 yards a season? Edmunds brothers? The RB never did jack shlt, not a thing, but he had a brother on the team. How's that list going? Tomlin gave a speech on signing brothers (right before he dumped brother Watt at FB, so I guess his points were not all that solid.

We will see how Herbig and Heyward do, they are due to do something. The other brothers have done jack shlt.
