I don’t think we can predict which players will turn into drama queens once
they get a taste of the fame.

Is there any real suspect characters besides AB?

and how bad is AB if the Pats immediately picked him up and he now follows Brady wherever he goes?

We aren’t any worse or better than any other team when it comes to player distractions.
I was thinking about this and suspect Tomlin might have gone with a little too much character on the roster.

I think there’s something to be said for getting players with an edge. Don’t NFLers need to be a little nuts to bash heads play after play.

It’s almost like the guys who are too cerebral won’t be willing to go all in at any cost.

That said, I do think you get some quality people who are still wound to compete and still give everything. But I doubt that’s the average for the smart/character players which w now seem to prefer.

I doubt it; if they make the playoffs, they are confident he will lose week one. <shrugs shoulders>

Well, we picked up Lagarrette Blunt(sp). He was suspect. We gave Mike Vick a 2nd chance which I was fine with.
I am not against giving players 2nd chances. I'm saying I believe Mike T has more input into choosing these guys then Colbert.
After Detroit , Ebron was considered soft which he is. We gave him a chance. Taco is with what his 4th team. It does seem that Colbert picks up the strays but he does so thinking Mike T can make it work. I can't believe Claypool's style was not known.
Juju was allowed to play TO on the opponents logo. Coach Tomlin is an excellent coach for today's NFL, I just wish he wouldn't let his players act like High School Harry's as we used to call them.

The whole Ben thing is up for debate. A lot of people on this board have bought into the Rapelsberger BS. He was guilty of being a drunk and acting like a frat brother at the frat house.
He did his suspension and redeemed himself. I think the Steelers threw him under the bus on that deal.
His onfield effort and character have been stellar. He will be crippled in 10 years from being hit more than any other QB in NFL history. And no brother I don't consider Big Ben suspect.

And you know after seeing Claypool and Juju the last two years, I am saying to myself AB wouldn't be that bad, at least he can catch the back shoulder fade.

I think Colbert likes to use the bargain bin for some players.

and the Vick thing was definitely a favor for Dungy. I doubt we give Vick a chance if wasn’t involved.

and no matter where you stand on Ben he even admitted he wasn’t a great leader those years when he kept getting into trouble.

Also, Hines and Ben used to go at it publicly and that was a “distraction”

I think most of our examples aren’t that serious but it is the Steelers and since there is no baseball or basketball to report on the local news turns every Steeler incident into front page news.
