Hanging on to Ben is just avoiding the inevitable at this point. He’s window is closed as far as winning a chip; so what is the point of shelling out big doe when the team is about to hit rebuild mold?

I thought it was low. That maybe puts some of the cap room into perspective.

      Thanks

thats a much better sample size then the 1 game he started this year. which IMO cleveland knew they hd in the bag. didn't they only play chubb in the 1st qr? maybe that's how the defense kept it close
play-by-play on game recap shows Chubb’s last carry was 5:15 in the 3rd qtr.

I think Mason still player above the line and deserves a full season as a starter before we make a decision on his future.

Isn't that true for every player? Isn't it "inevitable" you have to let all of them go sometime?

weren't you mocking him and the "1st round grade' someone in the front office gave him, not too long ago?

Yes, I mocked his first round grade and also had my frustrations with him in 2019.

Also admitted I was in my feels and I would prefer letting Rudolph sink
              or swim for a year.

Is this your way of admitting you were wrong about Chubb sitting after the first qtr?

I don't think Rooney is an idiot for wondering if bringing Ben back is worthwhile at given his cap hit and recent performance...if that rumor isn't just 100% made up.
Sometimes it's easier to call someone an idiot than to think the issues through. There are reasons to bring Ben back and reasons not to bring Ben back. The issues revolving around a successful organization are not cut and dry.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

actually. that was in question form because i missed the first half and thought i heard the commentators saying something to that effect. but finishing with only 14 carries with the last carry 20 minutes before the end of the game seems to lean toward that side of the argument... no?

back to rudolph, I do hope he's ready to take over, if not this year then in the near future. It would help the future of this team tremendously. i'm just not going to declare he's ready after a 1 game start sample size when the other team knew they had it in the bag by playing our B team while Covid 19 ran through their locker room.
                    Not sure why anyone would

Yeah.. I’m sure they felt better vs Mason than Ben after the first quarter of each of those games.. lmao

I believe the Steelers can still win with Ben. Ben might be able to improve on his performance last season. I think that because he was coming off the injury. Can a full off season of training improve his ability to pass? Ben's decision making is what it is at this point and probably won't change much under a new OC.

Improving the run game can only help the cause. Will Ben buy into that philosophy if the Steelers can run the ball better? Will Ben want more of the glory?

Hopefully the Steelers and Ben can reach an agreement in which both parties are satisfied.

Just read an article stating something to the effect... that while Ben may be willing to negotiate his contract... he RETAINS his input with the FO in terms of roster decisions.

So weve got a guy who basically doesnt practice through the week... with diminishing skills.. calling the shots... next year is gonna be a disaster.

Bens last 3 playoff games he has turned the ball over 8 times
Im ready to move on and see what we have in Rudolph
Im afraid next season will just be more of the same from Ben

Interesting, I just read an article stating that the two sides are planning on meeting the week after the Super Bowl. In the meeting, the Steelers will lay out their vision, and Ben will decide whether or not he wants to be part of it. It said that the Steelers did not want to be the ones to force him out, but this is their way of doing things the way they want and letting the final decision rest with Ben. I'm guessing they are still hurting on the Troy forced retirement.

That is something I'm fine with...Ben, you are welcome to stay under these contract guidelines and know the following: no Pouncey, no JuJu, take a look at the gameplan of your new OC - this is the offense you will be running if you return. We are happy to have you return, but under our terms.

nah.. it will be more of the same if Ben stays. I’m sorry but I don’t trust Ben to buy in his last year. I think a new OC is the perfect excuse to move on to a new QB.
