Congrats Bruce Arians

We were 20th in scoring in 2008. Compared to other teams in 2008.
That stat is not impacted by league trends.
Our offense scored more than 20 ONCE during the 2008 post season.
We score double that and lose thanks to ridiculous turnovers.sigpic

My point exactly.
Without a "great D" Arians did Jack squat as our OC.
That is not speculation...we saw it.
Dizz, what happened whenever Arians did not have THE BEST DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE.
THAT is how he got retired.sigpic

He has had success no doubt as a head coach.No.. making a SB isn’t the definition of success in the NFL.
9-3 as the interim coach for the Colts. A record for wins for an interim coach. He won COTY.
Led Arizona to 11-5 and 13-3 records in 2 of 4 years. I think they even made the NFCCG one year.
and sure, a SB appearance in Tampa with Brady.
Doesn't mean he was ever a good coordinator.sigpic

didnt do jack squat? Didnt we go 12-4 in 2011 after the SB? Wasn’t Isaac Redman our starting RB in Denver?
lmao at getting punished for having a team that are known for having great defenses.Steelers 27

What part of "best defense in the league" did you fail to grasp? And you wonder why I use CAPS with you all the time.
2011 Steelers:
21 in scoring offense.
Number 1 defense in scoring and yards.
Unless the dude coached linebackers on the side, I would suggest Arians coaching had little impact on that record. Well maybe the four losses.

Fun fact.
Under Arians we had all of ONE win when allowing more than 28 points. We did not win shootouts.
If the defense had a bad game we were TOAST.sigpic

How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?Comment

weird how you expect a team that invested heavy in the defense to have a great offense. We made SB’s. The goal is to score more than the opponent. What part of "best defense in the league" did you fail to grasp? And you wonder why I use CAPS with you all the time.

All those other teams that scored more points than us those years... and thru didn’t make we went to SB’s???Steelers 27

You wanna make a case about where we invested? I can hear you.
We did draft Mendy, Sweed, Pouncey, Wallace and DD with early picks during those years. We hit on a skew of receivers too who were picked in later rounds.
Dude this ain't rocket science. Of course the TEAM goal is to score more than the other team.
The offensive coordinators contribution to that goal is to score points. We weren't very good at that under Arians.
We won DESPITE him not BECAUSE of him.sigpic

Arians is a heck of a coach, wrongly let go by the Steelers. During his time, our OL was awful, that's on Colbert and Tomlin who run the draft and free agency, not the OC. Bruce also had a good relations with Ben, and that could have cost him.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

Check the 'points for' over league average margin and tell me Arians was doing a great job (BA's last season was 2011):

This does suggest that there was an OC we wrongly got rid of.Check the 'points for' margin over league average and tell me Arians was doing a great job (BA's last season was 2011):
