Even if been goes down, this team is loaded on both sides of the ball. Best/worst caseis drafting around 20 next year.
Too far away to move way up for your next franchise qb.
Grab hurts if he is there at 49.
I doubt you see a qb with his resume at 20 next year.
We will need to find a way to get a duel threat qb like the rest of our division has.
It's gonna be cheaper to do that than trying to surround a mediocre immoble qb with tons of expensive weapons.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

is this a real post? No sarcasm?

        I agree 100%.

Right now I think we have enough weapons for a duel threat QB to keep us in every game if Ben goes down.

We saw what traditional QB’s got us last year. Nada.

The game is changing. Try to find the next Russell Wilson instead of the next Ben. It’s much harder to find a franchise pocket passer in later rounds.

A rookie QB is NOT QB insurance, unless insurance for after a year or 2. A rookie RB can produce from the jump. If you are saying we need to draft a QB FOR POST 2020, that is an argument that holds water. But insurance for 2020? Poppycock.

Why draft a QB in the second round in a year that is generally considered weak for QBs after the top two?
Better off letting the season play out and see what can happen next.

who else is available next year after Lawrence and Fields?

I don’t even think Fields is that good. Buckeye QB’s tend to flame out at the next level.

If there are way more QB’s next year I can see your point but I think Lawrence has everyone thinking next year is great across the board.

yes. Insurance for 2020. If Ben goes down again that’s exactly what Hurts is.

I think a mobile QB is the perfect insurance in a time like this. I wish we kept Dobbs. He wasn’t the best passer but he took shots downfield and made plays with his legs. Would’ve been much better than what we witnessed last year.

I take exception to the posts that talk about how great everything is but make excuses when the team falls short of their ability.
This team is potentially in a perfect situation to draft hurts and let him sit and learn for a year or two.

So if Hurts is the real deal how does he last to #49 with so many QB needy teams?

When Tomczak is your best of the lot, it ain't a good group.

Tell that to Dak Prescott or Russell Wilson

Likely because four quarterbacks already went before him to the truly QB-needy teams, and the other teams all have a young enough starting quarterback that they feel confident about health-wise.

Hurts isn't the best QB in this draft by far, most of his issues are mental and as such are an unknown for the NFL. Just like many other draftable QBs. But he is still a capable QB with good legs and great poise right now that could very well improve and grow quickly.

Former first round bust Paxton Lynch is going to surprise everyone this year so there is no need to add another QB to our already loaded depth chart.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

The NFL game in mentally far more challenging than college...pass on Hurts
