I actually think this is when the QB sneak is most effective (and probably least dangerous).

QB sees that it's 4th and short.
Goes no huddle and quickly gets everyone to the line.
Runs the sneak while the D is unprepared.

I always wondered why not stick the running back under center and let him make the push.

Don't want to risk injury to your RB.

No deception and it’s a risky snap exchange with a RB under center.

Sure but running backs are in the wildcat running read option handing to other backs, surely you could teach them to take a snap. Also I don't think the deception matters teams are usually geared up for the sneak because its situationally specific.

Ben, Rudolph, Brees, Newton, Trubisky, Allen, Gabbert, Keenum, Smith, Foles - all injured not running the sneak.

Saying you wont run the sneak is like saying you won’t get on an airplane even though your odds of getting killed in an car accident are more than 2000 times greater but you get in your car every day.

Dude. A snap exchange is hard as hell. Unless you are a former QB it’s not something you can learn quickly.

I think they said Fitch double checked with Duck to make sure he could do a victory snap formation.

This doesn't warrant much more of a response than that.

Why respond at all? Think it was funny for Chiefs' fans when Mahomes was injured?

The same people who criticize Tomlin/OC for not sneaking with Ben would crucify Tomlin/OC if Ben were injured during a QB sneak.

Just because Mahomes got hurt on the sneak doesn't mean you should take it out of the playbook. The QB sneak is a highly successful short yardage play unlike our hand off to the back 5 yards deep and watch the opposing team's outside backer tackle him in the backfield.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

                      but Go Steelers!!!

These are professional football players for gods sake.

These guys have been doing this since pee wee football.

I swear some of you think football is rocket science. It doesn't take a God damn brainiac to do victory formation or take a snap.

I can teach that to anyone, even someone who hasn't played football before in about 10 minutes.

It's probably the safest play in the football history.

The fact that ppl don't have it in their playbook or want to remove it is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

No kidding. What other play has players moving that slow?
Christ, I wouldn't be afraid to run one at my age and shape.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Anyway, these kids aren’t under center in pee wee. It’s shotgun all day for most of these QB’s.

Watch some college ball. A lot of these teams do shotgun formation for victory formation snaps.

I’m sure you can teach it in 10
minutes.. you can probably catch bullets with your teeth too.

Professional football players still fumble snaps from time to time so thinking you can put a RB under center without having problems is hilarious.

Look at Samuels. I’m sure. Has played QB before but how did he do in the wildcat when he had the option to pass? He didn’t make a good decision. It’s much harder than pee wee or typing it on a computer.

I haven't watched pee wee football in awhile but I never remember them running shotgun. Then again, there wasn't much passing so that's probably why.

I can see how the mentally challenged think taking a snap from under center is difficult.

Or maybe it's so god damn mentally challenging that you need to get into med school before it's taught.

Next time I need surgery, I'll just go to the pee wee football team. Apparently, they are prodigies, future doctors with the absolute brilliance to be able to work under center.

Or maybe, I'm just right again with expecting an NFL starting QB to be able to do the same thing an 8 year old can do.

I wouldn't expect them to read at an 8 year old level. That's pushing the limits. It's simple playing football at an 8 year old level.
