Do you really think that’s why Brady takes less?

I seriously doubt it. I think Brady wants to play until he is 50 and will do anything needed to stay competitive.

Brady also takes a lot more preseason snaps and it’s not because his wife makes a ton of money.

When I pointed out how Brady plays 3 quarters in the second preseason game and it’s the difference between he and Ben folks said I was hating.

Some people put winning above everything else and will even cheat to win.

No Wow, I'm just saying he can more easily take less because of that. I do agree that Brady's drive to win is ferocious.

You can if you think he'll only play 2 more years and you can tag him twice.

I don't think the Steelers will do that, but they could if they feel like his ask is way too much.

They just did it to Bell, so the threat might be enough to get to more reasonable numbers.

If we have faith in Rudolph and Dobbs as possible future QB’s I can see us tagging Ben or giving him an offer that’s hardballish.

I doubt we do that with our current roster though.

I definitely preferred paying skill positions and moving Ben once his price got too high. I think we can compete or just have a down year or 2 and trying to hit it big on the draft.

I believe that the franchise tag for QB's is expected to be just under $28M in 2020 (roughly Kirk Cousins money, less than what Matt Ryan makes per year).

If we wanted to tag him again in 2021, that number would rise to between $33-34M (roughly Aaron Rodgers money, less than what Russell Wilson now makes per year).

The third franchise tag is where it would completely boom into outer orbit, surpassing $48M in 2022. At this point, he would be over 40 anyway.

Plus, Mason Rudolph's four rookie deal will be expiring after the 2021 season, so the team would have to determine who they want to pay to play under center in 2022...a 40 year old Ben Roethlisberger or Mason Rudolph who is 13 years younger and should then be entering his prime playing years.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I hear you but Brady has made how much already?

Dude could be single and still take less and not ever have to worry about his great great great great grandkids ever going broke.

Once you make over $200 mill plus have endorsements you aren’t going to go broke in this lifetime unless you start a video game business with your own money.

Brady will probably make another 100 million as a broadcaster or working in the front office if he wanted to as well.

I will never buy the rich wife excuse.

Roethlisberger's contract should not extend beyond the OL players cause I just don't see him wanting to break in a new left tackle or center for instance (or would he even survive the rookie's season?)

It is amusing that if they had a pre-nup, though, it would be Gisele asking Tom to sign one.

You don't have to buy it; it's a fact! Brady can stop right now, never have to spend any of his own money and be totally fine. Hahahahahaha

Tom is going to file after he retires.

Unless they are stupid with your money neither of them have to worry about money.

They can probably live a few lifetimes just off the interest alone.

I have to doubt whether Brady is really "taking less" ... after all, we're talking about the Cheaters. It's not too hard to envision a scenario where they are compensating him in other ways, paying him under the table, etc.

I really hope Ben will not expect to get paid in the neighborhood of what Wilson is now making, but that's probably unrealistic on my part.

I’ve heard some rumors about land deals or stock options.

Not sure if there is any truth in it but the way they operate I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a golden parachute. Is it illegal? Didn’t the Pens pay Lemueix in stock options?

Depends what you mean by illegal. It's not against the law, but it is against the rules of the NFL.

I think Lemieux was given an ownership stake instead of payment, but that was before the NHL had a cap. My guess is that the league wouldn't allow that anymore.
