This is definitely something they should address in the next renegotiation of the CBA.

I seriously doubt it. I think Brady wants to play until he is 50 and will do anything needed to stay competitive.

Brady also takes a lot more preseason snaps and it’s not because his wife makes a ton of money.

When I pointed out how Brady plays 3 quarters in the second preseason game and it’s the difference between he and Ben folks said I was hating.
      Brady frequently starts slow too.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Brady's real side deal is a wife with a net worth of about $400M. He is nothing more than a kept man

He has never had to get top dollar from the Patriots

No one is kept when you make that type of money.

I don’t know if he starts slow or if the team starts slow.

They finish much stronger than most tho.

Anyway. Just heard this morning that QB contracts are rising faster than the cap.

Franchise QB’s used to account for 13% of a teams cap and now it’s ballooned to 20% with these new contracts.

Russell and Seattle have barely been a playoff team since his rookie deal.

I think this means that having a good to great QB on a rookie deal will become even more important to consistently compete for the SB.

Assume rookie deals grow with the cap, the value of good QBs on rookie deals will continue to grow.

But I think for many athletes, that wouldn't matter. Most top athletes want to be paid accordingly, regardless if they "need" it or not. The cheaters are lucky that Brady takes a reasonable deal.

Think of the money that Ben has already made in his career. It's more money than most people will ever make in 5 lifetimes. All he has to be is not incredibly stupid with his money and he and all his children are set for life. You'd think with all the patience the Rooney's have shown to him over the years, he'd be willing to accept a reasonable contract, less than what Wilson just got.

Another point made this morning on sports radio.

The other players and the players union doesn’t want top players to take less for the good of the team because it hurts the players below them.

It’s a weird dynamic because we want to team to make smart financial decisions but personally I’m also on some “FU pay me” when it comes to big business and it’s employees.

I have long said that teams should be able to exempt a portion of one players salary from the cap. Put restrictions on it like must have 5 years or more tenure with same team and you get to exempt 50% of the salary year 1, 40% year 2, etc. But you have to keep the player for at least 3 additional years

The way the cap is now with QBs getting so much of it the league will eventually become stars and minimum wage players even more than it is now. That is not good for anyone...NFL, Teams, Players or fans

. Well because he wasn’t all that in college. I had a late third early 4th on him. These guys are gap fillers. Yeah sure one might develop and surprise me but I’m not holding my breath.

the Steelers had contemplated drafting Rudolph with their second round pick...

profootballreference.com has a feature that shows the career splits for every player.

For QB, you can see how they've done for the first four games of the season throughout their careers.

Brady's record in his first four games is 45-19-0

Ben's record in his first four games is 28-24-1

Brees' record in his first four games is 35-32-0

Rodgers' record in his first four games is 29-15-1

Rivers' record in his four games is 26-26-0

Wilson's record in his first four games is 18-10-0

I agree that Brady starts out slow, but only when compared with himself. His winning percentage in the 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16 quartiles is much higher.
