Will Russell Wilsons Mega contract have an impact on Bens impending one?

This isn’t good for our cap space

    4 years 140 mil with 65 guaranteed.

What’s crazy is Wilson have Seattle a deadline of 4/15 or he wasn’t going to sign this year and Seattle gave in.

So the question to Ben is...

You can’t really play hardball with a franchise QB. Ben could easily just hang his cleats up. He has the Steelers by the balls so yes he will command a hefty amount.
      Trolls are people too.

If you look back on that 2012 draft class Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, and Nick Foles all got their money and none of them were first or even second round picks.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

This is insane. Most of the QB’s will struggle to make the playoffs the next few years.

Great observation MOS;that should give us some hope in Rudolph.

It may be an exception; but none of the top six paid Qbs teams made the playoffs last year. When a qb is eating more then 13percent of a team’s cap, those teams haven’t won. Not since 1994.

In comparison, Brady is only making 15 mil this coming season.

I think Rudolph will be a good QB for us. Not unlike Cousins or Foles. Wilson is definitely a level above those guys.

I hope so. I’d like to see a good transition between he and Ben.

Let Ben play out his contract and be done. 4 year 140 mill is crippling to a franchise.

I agree that 140 mil is crippling; at what point do you think QBs are making too much ?

I have no problem spending to the cap but that’s in insane amount of money for a QB in a team that I just don’t think is a SB contender.

The cap keeps going up so I think $140 mill for a guy like Russell Wilson is insane BUT he is also a bit younger.

It’s still too much IMO and I don’t see him winning a SB with that type of contract. Last few years it’s been RW and a shell of a SB team because they can’t afford to keep talented players who made them special.

I’m always going to be in the side of the players getting more money but I think professional sports is getting into dangerous territory.

I read a story on the MLB contracts and how these new contracts aren’t good for the players because so much money is going to so few.

and folks wonder why Brady keeps winning.

If 13 percent is the crippling point in the cap, owners need to get an handle on their spending. Brady doesn't mind taking just 15 mil because his wife makes more money then him. LOL

Seahawks signed Russell Wilson to a four-year, $140 million extension through 2023.
The deal includes a massive $65 million signing bonus with $107 million in total guarantees, and the new money makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL. The relatively short extension only runs through Wilson's age-34 season, so it is likely he will get another shot at a big deal. On the other hand, Wilson was not able to get his salary tied to the cap, a precedent he was reportedly hoping to set, but $140 million is a nice consolation prize. With this deal in place, the persistent trade rumors will finally go away, and the Seahawks can get back to underusing their best player.
