How will any other team take him seriously ever again?

Doesn’t this weaken his ability to negotiate with players, with other teams, etc?

Who was ultimately accountable for giving AB his ridiculous contract in the first place?

There Red seems to be a pattern of disgruntled players in Pittsburgh from LB to AB to JH. It’s a pattern. As much as AB is at fault, it feels like someone else should be held accountable for our sub par roster and pattern of problems with players.

But then again, who cares? The season tickets have already been paid for. The fans are locked in no matter what product this team delivers. There really no reason to need accountability.
rooney also lied to us and said there was no circus. no drama..................no credibility with him either
tomlin..............he lost credibility way before this

How many Super Bowls did the Steelers win with those “2 studs?” New England just plugs guys in and they win with them. AB and LB are only studs in fantasy football.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Actually AB DROVE his value down DELIBERATELY.
I said I suspected this over a week ago.

His "crazy talk" that we THOUGHT made noboby want him was a ploy likely arranged for by his agent and eventual suitor who we now know are the Raiders.
Agreed contract, agreed driving his trade value down, benefits to the Raiders AND Brown all around.
We and the league got played.

        Actually a pretty clever strategy.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Another chance to blame and find fault. To the typical naysayers, I guess I need too understand how Colbert does this any differently and gets "credibility" (In whose eyes?) out of this. Hold on to AB and get nothing? Deal with a holdout? Hold on to AB and get probably less because other teams realize that we still want to get rid of this cancer. He got the best market offer there was. You all heard how AB was disrupting this process by telling the Bills he wouldn't show. Teams were bailing because of AB's antics.

As I said in another post, AB and Rosenhaus I totally believe were colluding with teams that were willing to renegotiate his contract. He sabotaged the Bills deal probably because they got indications they wouldn't change his deal.

Colbert got the best the league was willing to pay. Move on and wish AB the worst.

Explain to me what drama now exists with AB gone? The source of the drama was removed. Any of the other 70-80+ players on the roster causing issues? Making statements?

Pouncey and Foster seemed happy this week and had no issue resigning with this supposedly "drama filled" team.

NE has a good coach. Pittsburgh does not. Infact, they lost their best coach.

Pittsburgh has a fraud, overpaid janitor that is supposed to be a "players coach" but players don't respect him. He is supposed to be a secondary coach but can't evaluate or develop DBs. Lol. A fraud in every sense of the word. What exactly does he bring to the table? Pom Poms?

                I'm accepting this fact.

No man is above his team - especially when you haven't sniffed a Championship.

This team needs to get back to DEFENSE and balanced Offense!!

Colbert is good at this but eventually elite players want to be paid elite money.

Time ran out on Colbert and his contract structure needs to be tweaked a bit. Eating 21 mill doesn’t look good.

Brown forced the situation, then eroded his trade value with his mouth. Brown put us in a really tough spot and this was the best Colbert could get. I mean what does he do? Not move him and let him bring drama to yet another season?
Could not agree more he had to be moved. I'm not satisfied with the return but there are other parts to this that have not taken place yet. Next year there is no carry over $ for AB on our books so that will help. We have a draft coming up where we could begin the rebuild. Ten (10) picks now to make us better and possible 3 rd comp pick in 20 for Bells departure. Yet to be seen how it all plays out. Lastly AB may be losing it n that could be trouble for Mayock n the raiders. Not on the field but off.
So though it is not our best moment we at least are getting past the s&1t storm. Since this is a Colbert thread if 7 gets a new deal it better be dirt cheap local discount to give us a player back in free agency to make up for this black eye we're all wearing right now.

How could Colbert turn down all those other teams #1 offers and give away AB?

And by the way, the Steelers rarely re-up on WRs. Last one before AB was Hines. Maybe that should be the norm.
Say goodbye to Juju after his rookie deal.

Disagree. The blame lies solely with one a$$hole and his agent. PERIOD.

Colbert got what any GM would have gotten in this situation. No one wanted to admit it, but AB was in control. He was either going to get a new contract on a team he wanted to play for or he was going to sit. That leaves the Steelers with a very weak negotiating position.

I hope that AB works out for the idiot Raiders like MB did.
