Everyone needs to take the emotion out of this. It sucks but they’re replaceable carbon units that has a price tag attached. I try to look at the positive; the distractions will be gone and the team has more cash to spend in free agency. I’m actually looking forward to next season. Pessimism be damned...Comment

Me too; this coming season is going to ultimately bring about change; change that will get us back on track starting in 2020.Everyone needs to take the emotion out of this. i doubt it.
how many seasons have we heard this?
2011--steelers embarrassed by tebow- vow to redeem themselves------------go 8-8 the next 2 years with no playoffs
2014--- go 11-5 lose at home to the ravens in wildcard game----gonna work harder
2015 --10-6 get a fluke win at cincy(penalties to give us the FG). lose to broncos
2016--11-5 good playoff run but still lose to to less talented pats.........oh, we are so close. next year will be it
2017--13-3--really embarrassed at home by the jags....oh, that was a fluke, just a bad match up, wait til next year
2018--9-6-1-- no playoffs
so with all of these end of season failures, what changes were made to put us back on track?
lebeau?....no
arians?....no
haley?.. no
special teams coach?.. oh, thats right. no change needed there
draft different?..no
work FA different?..no
the steeler way is successful enough to never be below .500 with a playoff appearance the slight majority of the time, but rarely good enough to maximize their talent and achieve at the level they should
2019...well, lets see if the huge coaching changes at lb and rb coach will do the trick this year
damn me all to pieces, SteelBucks....lolsteelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clownComment

Squid, Im sorry I was being vague. The change that is going to happen is that we will have a change in head coaching after this coming season and a new head coach will come in and expectations will be put on everyone across the board. Which, in turn will have us on the upswing. THAT'S what I was referring to.i doubt it.

Tomlin is who he is at this point in his career. He can't change. So another underachieving year, coupled with the Browns becoming a force in this division and conference should get us the CHANGE we need to turn our arrow up again.Comment

All I I"m looking for us to do is plug holes this season in areas that we desperately need so our new coach in the 2020 will have enough to work with to get us going in the right direction. I want us to fix our linebacker corps, at least add a legit safety and cornerback and redefine our offense in our passing game...for our 2020 coach. This season is going to be a wash.
Because if anyone hasn't noticed, the Browns are becoming the best team in this division rapidly. And the Browns adding a legit, big time WR will just about lock them in as the best overall team in this division for atleast this season. So for us to challenge them now and in the near future, we'll need to fix problem areas and get at least a combination of GM/Head coach which is equal to them.Comment

Well, based on what I saw this past season, I think Ben will be the beneficiary of AB not being on the team. He was clearly forcing it into AB which was causing him to make poor decisions and turning the ball over at inopportune times. I think w/o AB in his ear, we'll see a better Ben this coming season, at least, from a turnover perspective. Hopefully, a better Ben translates into a better "team"Dumping Distractions Doesn’t Mean Steelers Will Get Back To Winning Ways

Le’Veon Bell is gone. Or as he puts it, “free at last” because yes, 2019 is just as stupid as all the other years. Antonio Brown will almost certainly join him as departed superstars. And that should, in theory, bring a calm to the locker room. No holdouts. No subtweets. No…whatever message Brown was attempting to convey while running on his treadmill.
It’s clear those issues played some role in the locker room. Probably smaller than the media believes, distractions usually are the mole hill, not the mountain, but still, the environment in the locker room was heading in the wrong direction. No doubt about it.
But is getting rid of 26 and 84 the cure all? That the ship will be righted and the Steelers Super Bowl bound again? Not a chance.
And you might already know this. I hope you do. But given all the coverage about distractions in the locker room, we’ve nearly forgotten the very real issues with this Steelers’ team we talked about all season. Unless those get addressed, Pittsburgh will be in the same boat come 2019. Just minus the locker room excuses.
This is a team that will have the monumental task of replacing Brown. It’ll be the hardest thing Mike Tomlin has ever had to do as head coach of the Steelers and the second toughest job of Kevin Colbert’s tenure, second only to finding a franchise quarterback that became Ben Roethlisberger. Whatever benefit you get of no longer dealing with Brown’s antics will still massively be outweighed by his on-field reward. The offense will have a totally different feel, just like it did against Cincinnati in the finale. The defensive conundrum of “double AB, single up everyone else” no longer exists.
There’s still loads of talent offensively but Randy Fichtner will have to be as creative as ever to gameplan without a player of Brown’s caliber.
Defensively? So many questions. We’ve repeatedly discussed the lack of playmakers. How a team with 108 sacks the last two years can somehow be ranked 26th in takeaways, a stat so absurd you’d think it was a glitch in Madden. A team still searching for a defined, three-down player at inside linebacker instead of the “throw it at the wall, see what sticks” approach. A secondary that needs more playmakers than the Steelers can reasonably fill in one summer with short and long-term questions about its ROLB spot and defensive line depth.
Special teams are still on shaky ground. Chris Boswell is a dart throw and Jordan Berry’s spot shouldn’t feel secure. Penalties killed this team the first half of the year though to their credit, made a U-turn the rest of the way.
I know we’re all consumed by the drama, Brown’s future, and what it all means for the Steelers’ culture. Fine questions to ask. Just don’t miss out on the biggest picture. Because once Bell and Brown are officially in their new uniforms, all the Steelers will be able to do is look at themselves. And be confronted, with no other storyline to dominate the headlines, the real issues this roster has.

I'm cracking up a bit at these assumptions that Tomlin will be gone after this season. While I'm not saying it isn't possible, what about the way the Steelers do business gives anybody the idea that will happen? Yes, I know Dan is gone. But why does anybody think that Art II will change the family way? Unless Tomlin decides he's done or he has a few losing seasons, the bet is that he's here to stay.Comment

We will not win anything as long as Tomlin is there...Frankly, I am more worried about Rooney...He seems to be more clueless than all the other Rooneys combined ( I know big shoes )
But I seriously think Rooney is in way over his head...This ****show has been going on for so long, and it is quite embarrassing...
That's the scariest part imo...Because Tomlin can ( I think soon ) will be replaced...Rooney never!
Steeler Way lolComment

I wouldn't write a single word of it! You guys act like the Steelers have been basement-dwellers since Tomlin came in. We've been to 2 super bowls and won 1 of them under Tomlin. Overall, Tomlin has done as good or better than Cowher. And most people forget, but Cowher was under fire a LOT during his tenure until he FINALLY won a ring after 15 years of post-season failures.Would write this exactly word for word...Spot on Squid

Compare us to any team not named the cheaters and we've done as good or better over the time period that Tomlin has been around.
Most teams have problems all over the place. I get it that our standard is high, as it should be. And it might be time for a new coach with a new, fresh message in a few years. But I don't think it's necessary for complete doom and gloom coming off a very disappointing season. Cowher had them too. As did Noll. Tomlin deserves a chance to right this current ship.Comment

Deserves a chance? It's been 10 years! You're basing everything on the bottom line...record...You need to dig deeper...I wouldn't write a single word of it! It's the manner in which EVERYTHING is happening...And I don't buy the way people ( alot, not just you ) compare him to Cowher...
Cowher wasn't the greatest Coach whoever walked the Earth but...It's the structue and character of their teams...
Did Cowher have his flaws, absolutely...But he always had sound, more than often dominant Defenses, Discipline, structure, an edge and fire that had his team READY to play! Every game!
He wasn't into, look at me, Ass grabbing, group dancing after 15 yard runs, when your D already sucks...Didn't have 3 of the best players at their respective positions of QB, RB, and WR for the majority of his career...
Created a environment where players slept in meetings, came/ come late to meetings/ practices, If they do come...Cowher wasn't close to this...
If Tomlin had Cowhers demeanor, discipline...With the talent Tomlin had...I think we are looking at, at least 2 more Super Bowls imo...
This is my opinion, I will stand by it...Tomlin has NO discipline, NONE! And HIS Boss turns a blind eye to it...Do you think it's magically gonna change now? After all these years? I don't!
I wish we would have moved on from Tomlin this year...Tomlins was good, But his time has come to an end...Need a new voice...We are going to continue to spin our tires...That is my opinionComment
