AB Problems, Steelers' Underachieving Because of Team Culture

Your exactly right Buzz!! And that's what I've been trying to explain to some fellow posters. Their expectations have been watered down. So much so, North_Blitz is comparing us to the Chargers or any other cornball organization in the league. We have our own bar of expectations and only a few organizations in this league have that bar as high.My point is, losers say "We're basically OK; we don't need to worry too much about making changes to improve" ("shucks, we were only a couple of missed kicks from a division title"). Winners say, "How can we fix this so that we're not blowing leads late in games and so that we aren't talking about how we barely missed the playoffs and instead are talking about contending for a Super Bowl?"
Are we spoiled? Maybe. But didn't your mother always tell you to set your goals high? My mother did. We made one AFC championship game in 8 years...I'm wrong for expecting more? I'm wrong for expecting a coach to have at least the last six years to put together a defense to an offense that's already good enough?
Most of the posters here have been watered down to take pride in winning ten games a year ...and that's it. They take pride in that!! And ignore how awful this team has been the last 8 years in the playoffs. You guys can get mad at me if you wish; But I will never lower my expectations for our organization. Never.
We have a good owner who's possibly stuck in the past on how to do things but I can see that not achieving goals are now bothering him and change is on the horizon.Comment

There's lots of room between:
"I think firing Tomlin now probably reduces our chances of winning again before Ben retires"
and
"I'm super happy with missing the playoffs. Everything is awesome!"
Also, I don't see how the Steelers winning can be seen as a "goal" for anyone on here because we don't play on the team. It's just entertainment.Comment

False maybe for you.
And if it’s just entertainment , then what are you so fired up about? Lol. Your happy with mediocrity. Others are not. I will not settle for mediocrity. And I mean mediocrity based on our franchise standards. Not the Chargers.Comment

No, it's not a false dichotomy just for him, it is a false dichotomy logically. You are trying to frame the debate with only 2 options, either "Tomlin is a terrible coach and must be fired", "or you are a person who is content with mediocrity". Not only is it it a false dichotomy but you are also engaged in another logical fallacy called "poisoning the well", just more examples of your dishonest debate tactics.Comment

He might be in denial but I don't think he is. He's too smart not to see what's going on. At the same time, he's going to do what a lot of top executives do in difficult times. Damage Control.Originally posted by BuzzArt's in denial. This is not good news. The first step in dealing with a problem is admitting it exists.
I think he's simply trying to keep the fans somewhat at bay by pointing out how close we really were to a very good season. I have a feeling that behind close doors, he's been singing a different tune.Comment

The fans aren't fooled by Art's spin. If he doesn't know that, he needs to wake up.He might be in denial but I don't think he is. He's too smart not to see what's going on. At the same time, he's going to do what a lot of top executives do in difficult times. Damage Control.

Really?? Reading commentary about firing the Coach makes me doubt that very much. Mr. Rooney has far more familiarity with what's going on with his team than the people that whine on message boards about things that they think they know something about.Comment

Art may or may not be in denial, but the last thing I expect him to do is air his thoughts in public. I would think that his words within the four walls of Heinz Field, and his words spoken to the media are vastly different - and that's the way it should be. Boring for the fans but the way it should be.Comment

Sugar, let me enlighten you bro, Tomlin will not be here past another 24 months. You can take that to the bank. Stop with the constant put downs of everyone who doesn't agree with on Tomlin. If you don't like it...STOP READING IT!!
Also, we live in a world with a ton of information available. Just because the information isn't to your liking, doesn't mean it's not true.Comment

This. Why would I stop reading when it provides me such amusement? If Tomlin isn't in Pittsburgh in two seasons it will be because after all these years he decided he'd rather do something else.Sugar, let me enlighten you bro, Tomlin will not be here past another 24 months. I have no idea where Sugar's "constant put downs" are. Can you provide specific examples?
On the other hand, you continuously calling other posters "Tomlin Ball Washers" is an obvious glaring put down.
Many folks on here are able to disagree with each other's opinions without resorting to put downs.
News flash...you aren't one of them.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment
