AB Problems, Steelers' Underachieving Because of Team Culture

Nothing that was said in those two videos is not true and none of the panelists called for firing Mike Tomlin. Schlereth said he's a good coach and bad manager of people but never mentioned firing him other than if he continues to "put up with" Brown until he doesn't need him on the roster that he could be fired before that occurs.
I don't believe anyone on this board will disagree with anything said in those videos, it would be difficult to defend a position other than what was said and that includes not firing a good coach.

What they said was on point. But all of it has been going on for years now. The warts are not going to change. So, what’s the next move to stop these issues in their opinion? They didn’t offer that. Because it’s not ESPN’s way for anyone of their host to call for a coach to be fired. So they didn’t.
In my opinion, if your not ready to talk about a solution then you haven’t completely talked about an issue.Comment

We can point to AB and the Steelers but if you really pay attention to the current culture of the entire NFL it is fair to say that Millennials have turned the NFL into a substandard product.Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment

Remind me which of these guys is on the team and in the locker room????
Could also point to Damien Woody on Golic and Wingo this morning who was singing the praises of Tomlin for being able to lead through turmoil. But I'm sure you guys just missed that or you would have highlighted that too."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

That’s a great point; but their are teams with coaches who seem to have a grasp of the situations. We need go no further then the other team in the state of Pensylvania. Their coach seems to have a handle on millennials.Comment

Excellent point that I think many of the "my high school glory days" guys fail to grasp when assessing how coaches have to act. I am a manager in a multi-national corporation and I can tell you that for over a year we are constantly getting training and insights on managing millennials. Bottomline is that their value system is completely different and you have to lead them completely differently. My colleagues still in the military deal with the exact same thing.
In your face, slobbering and screaming is totally ineffective with these guys. You have to get "buy in" and they need to understand the "why." It requires a completely different type of leadership that I think is lost to many on this board who have a stereotype of an NFL coach"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

As a father of 3 millennials, I can agree with that. They are smart, but the school system and common core crap have taught them a completely different way of problem solving in terms of logic and common sense. It's a me-first, feel-good way of thinking. If you try to bring the hammer down on them, they try to guilt you into thinking your expectations are unrealistic. So, I'd also agree that the millennial phenomenon is taking the same toll on the NFL as it is corporate America.
But back to the videos, just because someone isn't in the locker room doesn't mean they cannot make valid points about the chemistry of this team. It stinks, quite frankly. I just read that Vince Williams is taking shots at team mates for talking about Antonio Brown (calling them RATS on twitter!). DeAngelo Williams is fighting with Ryan Clark on twitter. You have current and former Steelers players lashing out in public at one another. This is not a good thing, and I can't point to any other team in the league where this is happening. So, the assertion that you have to be in the locker room to see that a franchise is in melt-down mode isn't accurate. I mean, AB was caught with a cell phone on the sidelines last season and brought Facebook Live into the locker room. The crap is public and spiraling out of control fast. It's an embarrassment.2019 MNFE CHAMPIONComment

I don't think Brown can go anywhere because of the cap hit we would have to take
Time heals all wounds. Let's get past the raw, irrational emotions of the next week or so and then move forward
Let's not forget that Clark now gets paid to come up with provocative takes. Him saying anything else doesn't get the "clicks" that he and ESPN want"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment
