I'm not going to lie - I'm still in shock!! Like having an outer body experience, or something.. I didn't see this coming and didn't expect that we would ever beat the pats with TB on our best day!! I will call it an uplifing confusion..
great win, talk to ya guys later

Haters will always hate, but the Rooneys don't and that is all that matters.I still don't think Tomlin is a great coach overall and I still think Butler and Porter should be fired.
The coaching staff apologetics always say it's a knee jerk reaction when people critique the coaching staff after losses.
Yet, the apologetics jump to the board to post "Does Tomlin still suck?" sarcasm. Hypocritical much? Talk about knee jerk.
We beat the Pats for the first time in an eternity and the apologetics are really slobbing on his knob again. Very selective memory.
Great team win but a little perspective... It shouldn't have been close and the pats played very un-pats like with the ridiculous amount of penalties.
Sorry, but 1 really good win against our archenemy after 5 straight losses to them doesn't make up for all the other negatives I've seen over the past few years from this coaching staff."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

Like the same selective memory when a bunch act is Cowher were superior? You see I'm the opposite, I really think he's a very good coach the kind That can turn the Browns into winning. But I also believe that maybe he needs a change of scenery for both him and the organization.I still don't think Tomlin is a great coach overall and I still think Butler and Porter should be fired.

09 I believe "reality" is somewhere in the middle of the extremes you lay out. You judge a coach on his record. Tomlin is EASILY better than most, certainly is not the "bum" some make him out to be.I still don't think Tomlin is a great coach overall and I still think Butler and Porter should be fired.

That said he in my view is NOT a "great" coach.
But let me ask you. If we win a second SB under Tomlin, that is 3 appearances and 2 wins and a overall winning pattern only bested by BB who is GOAT in the view of most people. That WOULD put him in the conversation of "great". Truth is Tomlin is one Lombardi away from being a HOF shoe in. You dont fire THAT GUY prematurely, and calls for his head are ridiculous.
EVERY coach had bad games. We just dont watch them with the same scrutiny.
BB's Pats looked unprepared and undisciplined last night.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Let the reality sink in brother.
We won under Tomlin.....against the BB and the PATS.....due to................A BETTER GAME PLAN and more disciplined play!!!!!
OK, that will turn your world upside down for the next week.

And we did it while only scoring 17 points!
I didn't think we'd win, but I'm not shocked by win because I still think we can win a shootout with anyone.
There is no way I thought we could win a game against the Pats where there were fewer than 30 points scored total. I assumed we'd need to put up ~ 35 or so to win.Comment

Just goes to show you how much of a difference good coaching/game planning can make. Those of y'all who try to say that coaching makes very little difference, it's all about talent, well, what did we see last night? The same talent that surrendered an easy 4th quarter TD to lose to the Raiders looked like one of the best defenses in the league against the Patriots.
Which makes it all the more frustrating that we blew several games this year with porous defense. Tomlin, Butler and Co. did their job against the Patriots. Props to them for that. They didn't do it against several other opponents. This team has the talent to be one of the top two seeds in the AFC. But through too many games, they haven't had the contribution they needed from the coaching staff to help put them in position to succeed.Comment

Would you mind if I ask, where has all this been? Fans have been screaming for better prepared-ness and game-planning for years!! Did "someone" just get a clue yesterday morning? We all knew the talent was there.

Before departing for the rest of the season, squid should have at least acknowledged the fact that with this win, Tomlin clinched yet another non-losing season, since that always seems to be his "go-to" Tomlin stat.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

That's wonderful. Congrats to the coaching staff. I love .500+ records with our talent. They mean so much. It's really impressive. I'm pretty sure 31 NFL HCs could "coach" this team to a .500 record or better. That is something even Hue Jackson could do.Last edited by steelz09; 12-17-2018, 05:00 PM.Tomlin: Let's unleash hell and "mop the floor" with the competition.Comment

I was merely pointing out the situational irony here. Squidkid always talks about Tomlin supporters clinging to his "no non-losing seasons" stat, when it's squidkid himself who is the one who keeps bringing it up 9 times out of 10. I found it ironic that that game that clinched that stat once again was the game that also resulted in squidkid losing a bet that keeps him off the board for the remainder of the season.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Maybe this past week, someone communicated to the coaching staff that their job security wasn't what they had imagined, and that they'd better start doing a better job.Comment
