I don't think I'm getting the dates wrong here. The Seahawks had cap space to throw to an elite RB because they had a good QB on a rookie deal from 2012 - 2015 (4 years $3M with a $620k signing bonus)?
Not coincidentally, they represented the NFC in the SB in 2014 and 2015.
They haven't been back to a SB since their QB was on his 2nd contract.
You can pay use lots of cap space for elite RB (or WR) if you have a cheap QB. And you'll be competitive if your cheap QB is above average to very good.
The trick is being consistently successful when you have a market level QB that's above average to very good.
And spending lots of money on RB doesn't seem to be a good idea in that situation. And we're in that situation with Ben.Comment

If forced to choose, easily it would be the Ramsey deal for me. We can find a good runningback in the draft or free agency if need be. But elite corner play is hard to obtain.Comment

Ramsey will take up 12.3% of the Rams cap space in 2021. Donald will take up 15.2% of the Rams cap space in 2021. Goeff will take up 18.95% of Rams cap space. That's almost 50% of the Rams cap allocated to 3 players.
The Steelers are winning and they don't have an elite corner. Teams find ways to win regardless of the players they don't have at certain positions.
Henry will only take up 7.37% of the Titans cap space in 2021. Henry is probably the better value considering his contract, salary, and what he brings to the Titans.
IMO it's all about how the player fits into the success of the team and the structure of the contract regardless of the player.Comment

Likely and current HOF QBs of the last 20 years with rings:
Brady (6)
Ben (2)
Peyton (2)
Brees (1)
Rogers (1)
R Wilson (1)
Of the 13 cumalative superbowls won by these elite QBs 12 featured at least 1 elite secondary player.
You will not see that pattern with any other position group.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 10-27-2020, 01:30 AM.sigpic

Put it this way:
In the last 2 decades every single HOF caliber QB who has played with an elite secondary player has a ring.
Including LAST season.
KC had ONE first team all pro last season and it was Matheausigpic

People forget they had a 9 year drought, during which they had THE BEST RECEIVER Brady ever played with.
9 seasons, between Ty Law and adding Revis and Butler....ZERO SB victories....cheating and all.
Save for the win over the Falcons, EVERY Pat SB win featured Law, Revis, or Gilmore.sigpic
