I think the Terrible podcast said that he's down ~ $20M out of pocket vs if he signed the long term deal with us instead of sitting out the season.

He gambled and lost. But, he's earned enough money that taking big gambles isn't a bad strategy. Especially if he really values his "summer of Bell".

While fans say he made a mistake, those same fans didn’t think he deserved or would even get the numbers he wanted. Yet, we saw other RB’s get more guaranteed money during that time frame.

hindsight is always 20/20 but people forget that the numbers they thought he would get were way lower than what other RB’s received. He knew there was money out there but the Steelers stopped him from getting it.

You may laugh at him being a journey man but he played one less year, made 27 mill for 17 games and has a chance to get another contract while playing for KC. Bell is fine financially and the HOF doesn’t pay nearly as much as these present day contracts.
Those are good points...and a dandy pivot away from the days of the "Elite/Generational player"... "Instant contender for whoever signs him".. "Added dimension" type of comments we continually read on here during Bell's holdout...
I'm not even sure Bell is above average at this point... I can think of several backs I'd rather have on my roster. I guess time will tell... but Bell's "Next contract" as you put it... will be peanuts compared to what he left behind in Pitt.

I'm just enjoying the moment (related to Bell's supposed long term success away from Pitt) .

We have no idea what his next contract will be worth. Seems like every time people predict his next contract the numbers always surprise people.

as far as his stint in NYJ. Definitely didn’t go as expected but it’s not like everyone can’t see Gase was an idiot.

It’s hilarious that you think it’s over and he’s about to play for KC next week.

Andy Reid said he doesn’t pass up good players. There is a reason multiple teams were interested in Bell. He’s not done yet.

It hasn’t been a long time.. lol. Again, you keep keep talking like it’s 5 years later and he’s retired.

I'd imagine most folks would line up to sign Bell for the vet minimum.

Considering the shelf life of most NFL running backs... I beg to differ

I think he's done as a work horse running back.

But I think he can still be a good 3rd down back because his pass pro was always very good and he is good at catching the ball out of the back field.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that's how KC will use him.

And unlike when he was on the Jets, he will outplay his cap hit in KC.

FOX's Jay Glazer reports the Chiefs signed Le'Veon Bell to "take some of the pounding" off Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Via coach Andy Reid, Glazer reports Bell has been added to "take just some of the reps but not become their starter." In Glazer/Reid's colorful language, Reid does not want Bell to "take the plays of my little guy." This all adds up, as CEH has been flashing promise in the change-of-pace elements of the NFL ground game while looking not quite ready on early downs, especially near the rugged interiors of the goal line. Despite the proclamations that Bell will be a change-up/breather back, the role described for him could still easily lead the team in touches some weeks.

My point is not that a team is better with a lesser back. My point is that the difference in team benefit of an elite RB is not commensurate with the cost.

If you save on a back and spend that money elsewhere, the money is.better used elsewhere.

Carolinas cap hit is modest this year so it is not relevant. But this again shows how little runningback matters.

Give me a decent back, spend that saved money elsewhere, and THEN you have a better team overall.
                        doing just fine.. lmao.

                        they lost last week.

Look at who we play today. Henry is a monster. Are they just fine if Henry went down for an extended period of time?

Who are we game planning to stop? That type of impact has value.

There are different ways to win games in the NFL.

Funny! He went from the guy who was going to re-set the RB position to a guy who can't even be a starter. Interestingly, he seems fine with it. I doubt Bell really cares if he even plays a down.

Not what has been reported apparently he is loving being with the Chiefs and out of New York. Also he had 6 carries today for 39 yards and looked really good.

It's unfortunate and bothers me that both LB and AB found their way to teams that will contend for a SB. It's not that I wish anything bad on them - well, perhaps I do. Just being honest.

I'll feel really good about this season if neither of them get a ring, and even better if the Steelers get another while having done it without them.
