I’ve already said that the coaches could have managed his feelings better. But, I’ve also said that managing the team is the bigger priority.

Whether or not Bud Dupree sucked in the playoffs has no impact on whether or not he was telling the truth. Heck, perhaps if Harrison had mentored him, he wouldn’t have sucked. And, yes, I saw your one video. Just because I’m not speeding when I pass a cop doesn’t mean that I’m not speeding my @$$ off every other time I’m driving.

Yes, the stuff with Harrison built up for YEARS. And, yet, he signed a contract with the team. I don’t care if it built up for years, he was an unprofessional schmuck. Period. There is no debating this.

Harrison put himself above the team, during practices and during meetings (not games though!) ALL WEEK. Getting pissed and knocking over a Gatorade jug once is not equivalent. In the words of Jules Pitt, “It’s not the same ball park, it’s not the same league, it’s not even the same £¥€<!~? sport!”

Even if the Harrison situation was a badly mangled as you say, he is still a turd for acting the way he did.

    Same answer.

Let me add to your "mentoring" comment.
We saw him mentoring Dupree before the season. That is a fact!

Maybe if the team just let JH compete he would have "kept" mentoring and Dupree might not have ended the season looking like a scrub.

Funny thing is that Dupree HAS a former player as a "coach" in the same dude who held JH out- Porter.
How bout he do his job and Dupree would have no reason to whine about another "player" not mentoring him.

It aint even Deebo's job to mentor and yet he did it Slappy.
Lots of players dont do that at all for the desire to hold on to their job. That criticism was ridiculous and was a straight up punk move by Dupree.

Selfish bum......not interested in team, doesnt mentor anyone.

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Jarvis Jones is making the most of his wrist injury, getting mentored by 12-year veteran James Harrison.

A five-time Pro Bowler and 2008 NFL defensive player of the year with 70 career sacks, Harrison signed to a one-year contract after Jones suffered a broken right wrist Sept. 21 at Carolina. Harrison retired Sept. 5, but the club needed someone to step in who knew the defense.

"Right now, Jarvis is trying to be a student of the game, because he's hurt, and he's working hard to try to get back to being healthy," Harrison said Friday. "But he's always asking questions, why I'm doing something one way or another, and he's taking notes to try to get as much information as possible."

Dupree was asked if Harrison was a mentor to him. Was he supposed to lie for a dude who didn’t want to be on the team?

Chickillo was asked the same question. Is he a liar, too?

        What about everyone else?

Nope. JH became a bad teammate in order to get his own way. That is the very definition of putting yourself above the team.

          Yet More:

          http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/s...s/201505290128

Jarvis Jones and Ryan Shazier, a pair of former No. 1 draft picks, have heard the stories and watched the videos of James Harrison’s incredible workout regimen.

But, after spending nearly a month training with Harrison in North Scottsdale, Ariz., the two young linebackers gained an greater appreciation — and a huge sense of awe — for the former NFL defensive player of the year who turned 37 earlier this month.

“Man, it’s unbelievable,” said Jones, who enters his third season after being the Steelers’ top pick in the 2013 draft. “He’s in a league of his own. I do what I can do to push myself, and it’s definitely motivation just watching him and seeing the things he does. But, as far as doing the things he does, he’s in a league of his own.”

“It’s very impressive,” said Shazier, the No. 1 pick last year who added eight pounds working out with Harrison and changing his diet. “We do the workouts, but it’s like his weight is on a whole different level. We all learn from him and do what we can, but we will never be able to lift what he’s lifting.”

Harrison spent the offseason serving as a mentor to the Steelers’ young crop of linebackers. He spent four weeks in Arizona training and spending time with Jones, Shazier, Vince Williams and Sean Spence, hoping his regimen with trainer Ian Danney at Performance Enhancement Professionals will have a positive and lasting impact on them.

Harrison said he has already noticed a difference in the players. And he hopes to make that difference more noticeable when he takes them back to the desert at the end of organized training activities and minicamp.

The Steelers held their third day of OTAs Thursday and will not hold another session until Tuesday.

“Right now, they’re stronger, they’re faster; even Shazier put on a little weight,” Harrison said. “I’m just leading them to the water, it’s up to them to drink.

“It’s like God is driving the bus for me right now. I’m almost 40 years old out here playing a game with young men. I’m extremely blessed and fortunate to be able to do that.”

Because of his age, the Steelers have told Harrison they don’t want him playing more than 25 snaps a game in 2015. Part of that, though, is because they also want Jones to get enough playing time to continue his development. Harrison, though, said he was told the same thing last year when he came out of retirement after Jones injured his wrist and was placed on short-term injured reserve. So what happened?

Harrison started the final four games, including the playoff loss against the Baltimore Ravens. In each of those games, he never played fewer than 52 snaps. He was off the field for only 19 plays in those four games.

Conversely, Jones played only 16 snaps in the final three games after returning from a wrist injury.

“We’ll get into the season and see how things roll out,” said Harrison, who had 5½ sacks in 11 games in 2014. “Initially when I came last year, I was supposed to be a 15-to-20 snap guy, and things rolled out a different way. We’ll see.”

Jones likely will be the starter at outside right linebacker once the regular season begins Sept. 10 at New England. But he would not commit to that when asked if he is the starter on the right side, saying it’s way too early to make that determination.

“[Harrison] is going to do his thing, and I’ll do mine,” Jones said. “We’re going to get a good rotation and take it from there.”

Nowhere in any of these did I read the names "Dupree" or "Chickillo". I'm not debating whether or not Harrison was a problem in 2014 or 2015...

                  That is true.
Yet UNDENIABLE VIDEO PROOF of BOTH Dupree and Chickillo being mentored by Deebo are repeatedly dismissed as though it was some kind of rarity, or that he was "doing it for the cameras".

THAT is why I bring up the history.

No my friend Deebo RELISHED mentoring, In fact he did this in excess of ANY OTHER STEELER!

Dupree did not say he "stopped" mentoring.
He lyingly said he "doesn't" mentor. Big difference and he knew how it sounded.
He went on to elaborate about what he expected when he became a Steeler clearly implying he NEVER mentored.

Everybody here, reacted to his comments as though JH never montored, until I dropped the video proof otherwise.

Tell me who IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE spends MONTHS training guys who are gonna take their jobs?

What STEELERS have you seen do that?
I'm not talking QBs with receivers, who spends MONTHS training guys to take your job?

The AFC QB in the SB sure didnt do it with Garapalo. Most players are too SELFISH to do that.

At best they help a little when they are secure in their own job. They rarely help out guys drafted to replace them.

The charge that Deebo "does not mentor" is RIDICULOUS.

When we draft a free runningback number one, you expect Bell to spend months training him when HE wants paid by the Steelers?
What about Mitchell....he gonna go out of his way to train a high picked free safety? (OK NONE of us want that, but you get the point)

ehh, I think that's the one thing most players talk about when they sign with the Steelers. We are family and we look out for each other.

I think when you don't mentor the younger guys you get sent packing.. especially if you are 39 years old.

Maybe JH didn't work with Dupree as much? Who knows.

Parts of what you say here I agree with. I think the team was being "generous" to Deebo in letting him go.
I dont think it was "smart" no knowing how to use him while he was on the team.

Oh and I am never "gonna lie to you". Dizz.

I agree what Deebo and Brown did are NOT the same. Go re-read my earlier reply to you.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                          TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

And that is not why he was released. It is why he wasn’t missed by his teammates.
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I think when you don't mentor the younger guys you get sent packing.. especially if you are 39 years old.

Maybe JH didn't work with Dupree as much? Who knows.
                              "Family"?

Seems to me he was "looking out for team" "like family" ahead of his own personal interests.

                              This "tradition" you speak of?

Who specifically "mentored" their replacements for months like Deebo did Dizz?

Ahhh, that just might be true.
Considering his HISTORY of mentoring others, JH's "challenge to "ask TJ" if he mentored (confident that TJ would have a different opinion), AND Duprees slanderous rant against JH........one might wonder whether Dupree had an attitude that JH just didnt like?
