I can't remember a single time he had made a play in coverage

I believe the guy who mentioned DPOY for him was chuck smith who trains pass rushers, I believe. hope we keep watt as far away from there as possible

Joey Porter needs to go and we need to move past this tendency of hiring old Steelers and focus on getting the best in the business for our position coaches. Did that with Coach Mann for WRs and look what we did at that position

I am sure it's about the Steelers wanting to maintain a culture of winning. Who better to do that with than former players from great winning Steeler teams? That said, as others noted I am not sure great players correlate to great coaches. There's probably some success but there a some catastrophic failures....Remember the Bears hiring Singletary as HC?? yikes.

It was SF. Pretty sure he showed his ass cheeks in a meeting too. Said they were ass out.m and then mooned the team.

There is plenty of skepticism in league circles regarding the potential effectiveness of 49ers coach Mike Singletary's decision to use his first postgame press conference to berate unnamed members of his team.

Count me among those who proclaimed this to be Dupree's year. I'm hoping it is some kind of nagging injury that we never heard about or something. After missing all of camp last year and then only playing 6 or so games, he lit it up when on the field. The natural progression for him seemed to be a huge jump in 2017. When you couple that with the return of Heyward on the other side, as well as the emergence of Watt there had to be less focus paid to Dupree by the OL.

Without knowing what went on behind the scenes I am not ready to count him as a bust yet, but he took a massive step backwards and will need to show a ton moving forward.

With the structure of his rookie contract it makes no sense to cut him, but he might be in danger of replacing Moats as the designated backup next year with a rook being brought in to supplant him.

I can't think of a single example flash play Dupree made all year long. If he was heading toward a breakout season you would think a few 'wow' plays would have been made.
Nah, Dupree will be cut as soon as they find a serviceable replacement.

Chickillo could nearly replicate his production but at half the cost (actually, Chickillo doesn't make even that much). TBH, I'm frustrated with the lack of potential moves on this defense. We're keeping our defensive coaches, and players (Cam, Tuitt, Bud) get to just skate on by? After that performance??

Heads should roll. This is ridiculous. Cam and Tuitt are getting paid like Bruce Smith and Reggie White. Anyone here think Reggie White and Bruce Smith are going to give up 45 like that? And don't get me started on that big mouth Bud. I don't know how much it would cost, but cutting that bum outright and picking up a veteran guy off the street would be fine with me. Mitchell is already gone, we can keep Haden, hope Sutton becomes somebody, and lets go. We need accountable people on our D. Not lip-service, and 45 points.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

For those advocating cutting Dupree, here is his contract status:

He is in the final year of his rookie deal. His cap number is $2.934M. Of that....

$1.241M is the pro-rated portion of his SB. This counts against the cap whether on the team or not.
$1.692M is his 2018 salary, however, $1.103M is guaranteed. So, if he is cut, the savings is $589K (difference between guaranteed and non-guaranteed portion of his salary) and the dead money is $2.344M.

End result...Bud Dupree will not be cut this off-season. It makes absolutely zero sense.

I know he isn't going anyway this year. I'm just fed up with this scrub, especially after him deciding to open his big mouth about things (Harrison).
