It's an interesting debate. But if Bell's intent was to show a little leadership, his actions spoke louder than words. He should have been with the team, on time, even if he was going through the motions. Look at it this way, no way anyone could fault him for that approach vs 'I called the coach ahead of time', even if it's just perception and had no impact on his play.

Nah, I think the Iverson approach would apply to Ben not practicing on Wed. during the season.

Bell was late late to walk thru. He didn’t miss the other practices leading up to the game.

We we also have no idea if he shrugged off the walk thru (why would he?) or if he had a family emergency.

I just think its being blown out of proportion for obvious reasons. If it was truly an issue I’m sure more info would be released about it.
