Decastro thought enough of it to say something.

The Jags interviewed article said it mattered to them.

But to answer your question...I do believe people can get motivated by a myriad of reasons. I think that you can kick it up to "11" without even consciously realizing it.

I will never know for sure but I have always big fan of walking the walk before talking the talk

Mattered how? If De Castro is worried about the other team being more fired up them him, then maybe he's the one with the problem.

Yep. And that's what his detractors have the biggest problem with. Porter was the ultimate mouth... but he made plays.

Decastro's the best OL we've got by a pretty wide margin. He's the least of our problems.

              Does he need an excuse?

disagree Mr. Wizard. That is your opinion. I will take a guy who is in that lockerroom day in and day out over a poster. He said it mattered, the Jags said it mattered and frankly with very little upside to jowling why do it in the first place.

You can disregard it but I think and there probably others who think it did matter.

For a group of guys that have NEVER won a damn thing (besides Ben), they talk more **** and celebrate more than any team I've ever seen.
I'm not surprised Mitchell wanted to introduce himself. The Jags probably didn't know his name, just knew him as the scrub floating around 30 yards off the line of scrimmage all day

You keep saying it mattered, so I will ask again, how did it matter?

Dulac's report card. lol. Gives the whole D and the coaches F's. Also mentions Tomlin overlooking Jax. How is this tolerated???

I don’t care if it impacts their play or not. I’m on board with Mitchell being an idiot. And his actions embarrass Steelers nation. It’s one thing if you can back up your mouth. But this defensive “performance “ was an embarrassment of EPIC proportions. It’s cemented in Steelers history. And Mitchell just makes it worse with his mouth.

For starters, Mitchell was for some reason focused on talking **** than preparing for the game. Maybe the same reason Bell was focusing on his paycheck than the game. Or Tomlin focused on the Pats instead of anyone else he had to play.

I think your discounting the effect of trash talking:

When he spotted number 27 -- Pittsburgh free safety Anthony Smith, who last week guaranteed a victory over New England -- Brady lit into him, barking at Smith until several players stepped in to break up the fracas.
"I don't care to repeat what I said, especially if my mother reads it," Brady said later. "She wouldn't be very happy."

The Patriots don't do happy, either. They are at their clinical best when they are at their irritable worst, which describes their mood during their 34-13 beat-down of the Steelers in general and Smith in particular. Fueled by two weeks of insipid play on their part and one mouthy prediction on Smith's, the Patriots (13-0) got their swagger back by removing his.

Why the **** is he lurking outside the locker room anyway? Maybe he should have been focusing on himself and a game plan to keep a horrid offense from lighting them up like a pinball machine (again)
Players yapp all the time out on the field. All that talking doesn't matter. It matters more to the spectators who think it matters. hahaha
