Really did Mitchell get torched out there, He seemed to his job. Bell wasn't focused? 155 total yards and 2 TD's.

Um, the entire defense got torched all day long. Did you watch the game?

        Bell was fine.

Care to comment on how prepared and focused Tomlin was?

Or, maybe Brady spent a few extra minutes/hours dissecting tape on Smith?

That's the worst collective coaching effort I've seen during Tomlin's tenure

How didn't it matter? The Jags players in the article said the following:

And the Jaguars took it to heart.
“We didn’t talk with all the trash talk they were doing this week,’’ said defensive end Dante Fowler. “We were quiet. ... Real people are quiet and then they throw the first punch.”
Added safety Barry Church, “We use it all. It is all bulletin board information. I mean, you go out there and you talk stuff. That’s what you’re going to do, you’re going to poke the bear and the bear is going to come after you. ... We sent them home. I hope they are happy.”

Again I will take their word over your constant no it didn't, prove it.

It's not concrete but I will take the things I am hearing over your statement "it didn't matter." Prove your point to me? How didn't matter?

Neither one of us can prove something concrete because we aren't in the minds of players. As I said in my original post I will take them at their word.

the catches by brown and bell were 1 in 10 as was the 4th down td throw to bryant
this easily could have been 45 to 21
Disagree on lucky throws, the throws to Brown, Bryant and Bell were thrown into absolutely the tightest windows available to an NFL quarterback and they weren't your run of the mill 10-12 yarders. Save for the INT (which was a nice play by the LB) and holding the ball too long on the fumble 6 Ben was nearly unstoppable today. His biggest nemesis might have been Todd Haley.

Yes I watched, Bortles only threw for 216 yards and hardly completed anything to his wide outs, but they rushed for 150+ and 4 TD's. Secondary actually played well we got beat because our ILB's played poorly.

As far as Tomlin goes, I'm sure he was prepared, what makes you think that Tomlin didn't prepare for the game?

trash talking is fine - when you back it up.

The steelers are one of the best in the league at chirping, trash talking and self-promotion.

sadly, they are one of the worst at following through.

There are tons of psychological studies out there on motivational catalysts. It's ok to be contrarian to a point. But there is no conclusive way of measuring how this played out in the game.

The fact is I remember how Tom Brady handled the first TD after the Anthony Smith talk...it was a pretty demonstrative spike in his face basically and I think it does add incentive in preparation and execution.

As I said earlier regardless of the effect what's the upside in doing it?

Obviously the Patriots don't really engage in it much and the Evil hoodie is not a big fan of it. So I guess I imagine that a lot of coaches think there is something to it, as well as David DeCastro and the two Jaguar players quoted in the article.

Well if that's the best preparation Tomlin can come up with (game plan, motivation, etc) then he shouldn't have gotten off the field without being fired.

I didn't see Mitchell making any plays either, did you? I saw him flail around a few times trying to tackle people, saw him look completely lost on what should have been an easy int, and saw him get fooled on a TD pass. Then again, for him, that actually was a good game

Trash talk before the game doesn't effect the outcome, we were 13-3 and I guarantee their was smack talk before every one of those games.
