no talk about tomlin's moronic FG move?

steelers line up for a 47 yarder.
    5 yard penalty on steelers.
    lines up to punt
minny gets 5 yards penalty to move the ball back to a 47 yard FG

If the punt was a touchback, he likely would have accepted the MIN penalty tried the 47 FG again. But Berry's punt was downed at the 1 yard line.

With 10 minutes to go, up 20-9, pinning your opponent at their own 1 yard line is a good place to be.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Exactly, no point in attempting a long field goal when you got them pinned on the 1 yard line with a struggling offense.

Perhaps Tomlin had no intention of kicking the FG to begin with??
5 yard penalty was a delay of game correct??

I think it was an illegal snap.

After review I'm ok with pinning them at the 1.

exactly. it was actually a SMART move, not moronic. they tried a couple of times to draw them offsides and get a cheap first down - knowing that the FG was too far to really attempt comfortably AND moving back 5 yards on a punt was insignificant. Ben gave hard counts, moved folks around, hoping to draw the defense off and get the first. They were never going for that first down. They were never kicking that FG. if you miss, the team gets the ball at that spot instead of at the 20 (or inside).

Worthwhile strategy, Minny just didn't bite.

Not sure on what planet attempting a 47 yard field goal is sounder strategy than pinning your opponent within 10 yards of the goal line (with a comfortable lead I might add), but I guess you're just smarter than the entire coaching staff along with every logical person on this forum.

Tomlin is vastly more intelligent than 'Kid'. 'Kid" has no comprehension of what Tomlin is doing most of the time. If he wants to check out a moron, get a mirror and a dictionary. Look up the word 'moron" and then look at your reflection. You are the epitome.

Steelers punt and down ball at the 1 yard line.
minny gets 5 yards penalty on that punt, which would move the ball back to an attempt at a 47 yard FG
