lol, preseason games matter now? We just went to an AFCCG with Landry Jones as our #2.

The focus on our back up is comical at this point. It's like fans can't really find anything to b!tch and moan about with our offense and our defense (outside of the AFCCG of course) so they spend an insane amount of time criticizing the back up QB.

It's only a matter of time before we start blaming the long snapper and practice squad players for our fall from grace.

I can't recall ever hearing this much whining over a freaking clipboard holder.

I will add Landry has had a couple bright spots but many dark ones as well. Ben is a fart away from Landry needing to step up and I never feel good knowing he has to win a few games if ben does go down....there has to be a better option available or just hope ben stays healthy

It's only comical until the starter goes down. Any way you slice it, an NFL QB with a QBR of 47 isn't really an NFL QB and doesn't really deserve to be a on roster. The Steelers should be in the mode of searching for Roethlisberger's replacement now, not the year he decides to hang it up. Not saying they should waste a high draft pick, but take a chance that they select the next TB in rd 6.

You're right. Until you learn that his two wins were against the most pathetic defenses in the league. It's a done deal, so I won't harp any longer about it. If the Steelers need him for any length of time and he can go 50/50 it's probably money well-spent. Hell, the Ravens just resigned Mallet and he could possibly be worse than Jones...

One of the victories was against the 2015 Cardinals, a 13-3 team with a top 10 defense. But don't let facts get in the way of even more whining about a backup QB.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Yeah, instead of having 4 quarters to beat them starting with a 0-0 tie, Landry's opportunity came with a quarter and a half to go down starting with a 10-6 hole. He lead us on 4 drives (not counting the kneel down to end the game) and scored points on each one of them (2 TD & 2 FG) to win the game 25-13. Against a team that lost only 2 other games all year. But, no...the defenses he played were pathetic.

Let me stir the pot lol, the Cardinals did what the steelers like to do at times and make the no name qb look like a starter I still want to see what mettenberger can show

Steelers re-sign QB Landry Jones (2 years): F Grade
I haven't found any financial details on this contract yet, but I don't care. This deal could be for two years, three cents, and it wouldn't change anything. It's awful, and it fully deserves to be graded poorly.

I don't understand why the Steelers continue to insist that Landry Jones is a viable No. 2 quarterback. He's one of the worst backups in the NFL. He was 25th in my
2017 NFL Free Agent Quarterbacks (http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2017QB.php), listed below Vince Young and Josh Freeman, both of whom are out of the league. Jones is so bad that the Steelers have become an automatic fade in the preseason; they're 3-14 in their past four Augusts!

This is an "F." I'm not even willing to figure out a Millen grade for this. It's just bad and embarrassing that Jones continues to be named a No. 2 quarterback, and the Steelers should be ashamed of themselves.

I like Walter Football, but take it for what it is. This is the same website that has Cockrell ranked above Kirkpatrick and Sean Spence ranked above Timmons among FAs.

Look, I'm fine with Landry as a backup QB for another year, but as far as I can tell, he garnered close to ZERO interest from other teams in the league in FA. That speaks volumes about what level of talent NFL evaluators think he has.

the problem isnt necessarily who is holding that clipboard, its the amount he is getting paid to do so

I wish. Unfortunately it's the clipboard but I'm sure you and a few others will think his 2.2 million is the difference next year.
