Show me a game during which Roethlisberger hasn't played well this season, and I'll show you a game during which the rest of the offense is doing plenty of ****ing up on its own. Against the Eagles? David DeCastro and Markus Wheaton both decided to have the worst games of their careers at the same time, and the offensive line got pushed around all day. Against the Patriots? Landry Jones was the starting QB. Against the Ravens? The running game went nowhere, and seemingly every positive play during the first three quarters was negated by a penalty. In those three games, Roethlisberger was simply the last domino to fall. The QB may be the most important position on a football team, but it's also the most dependent. Peyton Manning in his prime wouldn't look good if the offense around him committed 10 penalties in one half. The only game this season during which Roethlisberger was any part of the problem whatsoever was against the Dolphins, and guess what? The Dolphins have a hell of a defense. They intercepted Philip Rivers four times in the fourth quarter alone yesterday, and Russell Wilson struggled against them too, so apparently they do a good job of making good QBs look bad.

I agree and disagree. I like Ben being a leader and even holding his coaches accountable. But, he has played awful this year and the first pointed finger needs to be at himself.

Maybe Ben is tired of the standard being the standard bullshlt talk Tomlin spews week after week.
This team needs a shakeup and it needs to start with the coaches taking some responsibility.

If you think a message board hurt me, then you are as delusional as Ben. I don't get paid millions to play good football neither does you. This is an opinionated board and in voicing my opinion.

I second and third that. This isnt good for the morale of the team. This isnt the Ben from 08 who kept cheering on and backing his miserable OL.

It's not that difficult to make sense of this season. The offense has vastly underperformed compared to expectations. Run game has dried up even though Bell is back in the lineup (looked better last season with DW).

The line play on both sides of the ball have been erratic at best. Did you realize that not a single Steeler hit Elliot on any of his three TD runs???? How is that possible? The line was being pushed all over the place. Offensively, I can't say Bell had that much room to run. Sure, they faced a good defense but this is supposed to be a top tier OL according to many pundits going into the season. They are not that consistent to be considered top tier.

With the QB making public comments about certain players this has the potential to blow up into a huge slide for the Steelers. Whatever happened to 'win as a team, lose as a team'??????????

Also consider there are players at some key positions that just do not seem all that good or still have some learning to do. Mitchell in particular has regressed badly. I can't remember the last time I have seen such horrendous play by the safety. This far into the season, we should see decreasing missed tackles and poor approaches to the ball carrier and yet it seems they are increasing. Say what you want about LeBeau but the reality is his units seem to always improve as the year progressed. Not seeing this under the new staff.

I love how everyone missed the best post of the year by Ruthless. Thank you for your sanity! If you missed it go back and look. I too thought we were pathetic going into the game and going to get ram rodden by one of the best team in the nfl. Turns out we were in control of the entire game until the last 42 seconds.

7 lead changes isn't exactly 'in control of the game'. In terms of stats, it was about as equal a game as you will get in the NFL. Turned out the team that got the ball last, won. You'll have those games in the NFL (and they seem to be occurring more frequently).

It's not as if Prescott and Elliott are total green rookies who shredded us but are below average against everyone else. Dallas hasn't lost a game in 2 whole months. Dak is completing two thirds of his passes and has a 14-2 TD-to-INT ratio. Zeke is the first player in the NFL this season to rush for over 1000, and he has Eric Dickerson's rookie record firmly within his sights. That Dallas o-line is the best in the league, and there isn't a close second.

And yet, one short week after our offense had as pathetic a performance in my recent memory, we managed to stay with them all game long, punch for counterpunch.

When I was walking out of the stadium yesterday, I was ticked off that we blew it at the end...there are no moral victories in this bottom line business. But I certainly was more hopeful about our prospects after this weekend's nailbiter than last weekend's embarrassment. I acknowledge that our defense is still really green, and I'm not necessarily shocked when really good offenses are able to put up big numbers against them (I actually think Dallas' offense could be more difficult to defend overall that New England's).

Also, as just a football fan in general, even though my team ultimately came out on the losing end, I was able to appreciate that game for being the true blow-for-blow battle that the NFL is striving to be (must have been somewhat like how Cards fans felt witnessing the crazy, wild spectacle that was SBXLIII, albeit with much less at stake on this given day).
Blow for blow? Did you see our defense lay down? Heyward acknowledged it, apparently someone is to blame.

There is a difference between well-played affair and what our D put out there yesterday. Last night's SEA-NE* game is a good example. Both teams played hard, accounted themselves well, and one team just happened to lose. In our game, you have one side (DAL defense) who played a hard-fought game they can feel proud of. They also are pretty undermanned.

On our side? That 2nd-to-last TD was a microcosm of our defense--He so easily went into the endzone that the announcers thought we did it on purpose. We didn't want to of course... but that is why it wasn't just a case of "one team has to win." And to top it off, he went equally untouched for the game-winning run too.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Yeah. Good point. But i was meaning more like in position to win throughout. Of course once dallas got the ball with 42 seconds i knew our D couldnt hold. Same ol same ol for the past 6+ years
