All I know is I'm pissed. I love this game and the Steelers more then I love Bologna sammiches...that's saying a lot. I'm going to blame someone for it because someone is responsible. I'm smart enough to know the person I'm blaming could be the wrong person, but until our D turns it around, wrong or right, I'm calling it the way I see it.
This forum is my outlet. It keeps me from beating my neighbors who don't like the Steelers. It's also where I like to gloat when things are falling into place. I expect a certain level of pride, especially from a Steelers Defense. Yesterday was the first time since the 80's that I felt the Steelers were giving up. I know they didn't give up, but it felt that way on Defense. It was a totally disgusting display of weakness and vulnerablity unseen by me since those horrible years.
I'm not going to feel that way and not lash out. I'm too old now to live through another decade of deception.2019 Mock

Show me a game during which Roethlisberger hasn't played well this season, and I'll show you a game during which the rest of the offense is doing plenty of ****ing up on its own. Against the Eagles? David DeCastro and Markus Wheaton both decided to have the worst games of their careers at the same time, and the offensive line got pushed around all day. Against the Patriots? Landry Jones was the starting QB. Against the Ravens? The running game went nowhere, and seemingly every positive play during the first three quarters was negated by a penalty. In those three games, Roethlisberger was simply the last domino to fall. The QB may be the most important position on a football team, but it's also the most dependent. Peyton Manning in his prime wouldn't look good if the offense around him committed 10 penalties in one half. The only game this season during which Roethlisberger was any part of the problem whatsoever was against the Dolphins, and guess what? The Dolphins have a hell of a defense. They intercepted Philip Rivers four times in the fourth quarter alone yesterday, and Russell Wilson struggled against them too, so apparently they do a good job of making good QBs look bad.Comment

The funny thing about team sports is the same player that called out others can be called out too. No one plays well every week. There was a time not long ago that younger Ben wasn't considered a good teammate. It doesn't make you a good teammate to call out others in a public format. It's frustrating to lose but calling out teammates or coaches shouldn't happen. Ben stepped up big on the field this week but failed the team off the field.Comment

Week 1: In a 38-16 victory over Washington, Ben was 27-37 (73.0%) for 300 yards (8.1 YPA) with 3 TD and 1 INT. Good performance, big primetime debut win.
Week 2: In a 24-16 victory over Cincinnati, Ben was 19-37 (51.4%) for 259 yards (7.0 YPA) with 3 TD and 2 INT. Not his best performance by any means, but we managed a close win vs. a division rival.
Week 3: In a 34-3 loss in Philadelphia, Ben was 24-44 (54.5%) for 257 yards (5.8 YPA) with 0 TD and 1 INT. Crapped the bed here. His one poor performance that cannot be explained away due to injury.
Week 4: In a 43-14 victory over Kansas City, Ben was 22-27 (81.5%) for 300 yards (11.1 YPA) with 5 TD and 0 INT. Awesome performance in annihilating a team who has only lost one other time in its last 19 regular season game (that's a real stat...no one seems to take the Chiefs seriously, but they've been on a crazy run over the last calendar year). That ballhawking defense is something to behold.
Week 5: In a 31-13 victory over the Jets, Ben was 34-47 (72.3%) for 380 yards (8.1 YPA) with 4 TD and 0 INT. Another great performance, shredding a team that has been known for quality defense but inept offense.
Week 10: In a 35-30 loss to Dallas, Ben was 37-46 (80.4%) for 408 yards (8.9 YPA) with 3 TD and 0 INT. He certainly played well enough to win this shootout if his defense didn't blow the game in the end.
In spite of those injury issues which have plagued him over the last month, he is still completing nearly 65% of his passes overall, and has a 20-7 TD-to-INT ratio. Has it been his best year? No, certainly not. But to consider his play this season to be awful is going more than a little bit overboard.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

Pulling stats some times don't tell the story , he was awful in Miami and got hurt late in the game, He was awful in Baltimore having just 50 yds passing throwing high, behind and low. And if he was good enough to throw for 200 plus yds in a quarter agains the Ravens then he was good to go the first 3 quarters.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

The MO for Ben is play like a HOF Qb at home and then play like a rookie on the road.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

but my issue with Ben is the last 3 or so years Ben gets hurt and misses 2 or 3 games then has his ugly game before returning to form. I'm sick of it.
we are paying him too much money for 12 games a year.Steelers 27

Felt was correct...his injury happened in the 2nd quarter of thatMiami game (not that he was playing like gangbusters before getting hurt, sinceour only points up to that point was a 60 yard TD run by DHB on an endaround). And I don't necessarily thinkthat his 4th quarter stats vs. Baltimore (when they were playing primarilyprevent D) means all that much in terms of his earlier suckitude in thatgame.
My original point stands...among the games this season withoutinjury asterisks attached to them, Ben has played well enough to win in 5 ourof 6 starts. His aggregate stats for theseason not including the Miami or Baltimore games which were heavily impactedby injury are 163-238 (68.5%) for 1904 yards (8.0 YPA) with 18 TD and 4INT.That isn't even remotely sucky byany standard. If his remaining 7 gamesare anything like those 6 games against Washington, Cincy, Philly, K.C., theJets, and Dallas, then he'd be on pace for over 4500 yards again with over 40TD passes for the first time in his career, compared to about a dozeninterceptions.Through the first 5 weeksbefore he was injured, he was arguably playing on a league MVP type of level, and now it appears based on his performance against Dallas, it seems like isonce again back to that level. And yetmultiple posters are bemoaning his supposed regression and our need to find hisreplacement ASAP.

One more point and even Tulch agrees with me, the Ravens played the Steelers no different in the 4th quarter.http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2...eelers2010.jpgComment

Ramon Foster: Coaches have gotten us ready, we have to do our jobs
Posted by Josh Alper on November 15, 2016, 1:37 PM EST
The reasons for NFL losing streaks vary from team to team, but most of them tend to generate questions about whether the team’s coaching staff has lost the ear of their players.
It’s four losses in a row and counting for the Steelers, which means that those questions are being asked about head coach Mike Tomlin. One veteran member of the team gave his answer on Tuesday.
Guard Ramon Foster said that Tomlin’s message “definitely resonates” and that the onus is on the players to do “their jobs to the best of their ability.”
“This past week I thought [practices went] really well,” Foster said on 93.7 The Fan. “We did everything we needed to to prepare for the game. I won’t get into this whole thing about the coaching staff needs to do this or do that, they’re not the ones out there playing. We are the product out there, the coaches have gotten us ready. I know one thing, our meetings are long as ever, we definitely have a lot of detail on what we’re doing so I can’t point that back at the front office. Guys just have to do their job, we have to be pros about everything that we’re doing.”
Foster believes that the team needs to get a win and build from there. They’ve got the only winless team in the NFL up next on the schedule, so odds are in favor of Foster’s conclusion getting put to the test.

BR said the coaches made the decision at the last minute to play him in the Ravens game. He said he had no input but his insinuation was that he wasn't ready to play but left it up to coach.
This tells me there is a disconnect between HC and QB.Comment
