It's interesting that they signed CB Shaquille Richardson (our former 5th round pick who never played a down for us), who tried out at their rookie minicamp over the weekend.

I'd still take Boykin back on veteran minimum deal as insurance just in case inexperienced guys like Burns, Golson, and Grant are not yet ready to contribute.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

And to make matters worse, he signed a cheap deal.

I'm not sure that he would go for that, but I'd absolutely do it. As it is now, I'd imagine that Gay-Cockrell-Golson are the top 3 entering the season, with very little competition from Burns until mid-season. Grant wasn't really pushing anybody last year, and counting on Golson - who hasn't played a snap and is coming off an injury - isn't ideal.

Boykin would be great depth/insurance. Make Golson really earn his role.

I wouldn't imagine that Boykin would want to return to Pittsburgh, but I doubt he has a ton of options at this point.

The timing of this move is odd. The Panthers did draft 3 corners this year, but you'd think they'd want a veteran to provide competition early.

Just goes to show how badly they must have wanted to get rid of this guy. There is a reason that he wasn't wanted by Philly, barely saw the field in Pittsburgh, was shown no interest by the Steelers, and was quickly dispatched in favor of Shaq Richardson by the Panthers. No doubting the pattern that is emerging here.

Something must have been happening that we don't know about. He signed with the Panthers 3 months ago...on a rather cheap deal and then released.

If we sign him back to a veteran minimum contract like Carolina, would we be considered to have gotten some additional return on that 4th round pick?

The fact that he is already familiar with the defense is a plus...

                              MY COMMENTS!!
                              Can't understand everyone's obsession with BOYKIN ??
The only thing that disappoints me is we gave up a draft pick for him.

Other than that there has to be a reason for his lack of playing time. I myself was the harshest critic of BLAKE and cried for BOYKIN all season to move to the slot.
However this guy isn't demanded in the market for a reason maybe??

Something tells me he thinks he's a big money starter in the NFL when he'll never be more than a NICKEL slot CB.
He could have some mental issues and that's why the STEELERS have moved so slow on him. Who knows but something is missing here b/c he looks like he could be a really good slot CB and in today's NFL that's a VERY important position. You'd think he would have drawn attention in the 1st week of FA.

To put it in perspective, ANTWON BLAKE was signed before this guy got a visit!!

                              THEN

He signed a ONE yr. deal.
That confirms that this guy has a screw loose. Could simply be a poor, immature attitude.
With his talent and skill set you'd think he could get a 4yr deal.

Antwon Blake gets a multiyear deal and BOYKIN signs for 1 yr. Red Flag!

                              THEN

BOYKIN took a 1 yr deal for the VET minimum. #NutJob.

ANTWON BLAKE can make almost $3 million next year.

This isn't a testament to my INSIGHT but it's a testament to WHAT WE DON'T SEE BEHIND THE SCENES.
