Then my first read would be AB, then Heath, then DW, then Wheaton/Bryant, these guys change the game with their catches and YAC. I think both will become reliable as they mature and work on their game in the off season and training camps. Ben has enough places to go with the ball on third down, I'm not saying ignore these guys, but if its a tight throw maybe look elsewhere and see if your security blankets have gotten separation.

Another way to think about Bryant vs Wheaton is to think about what they add to the offense vs their own production. I think Bryant has the clear edge in production thus far + the monster upside.

However, what do these guys add for the real stars in our offense - Bell and Brown. If you are playing the Steelers and have to stop Bell, Brown, and Bryant, that's a nightmare. If Bryant only improves slightly, teams will need to commit 2 guys to stop him. You need another 2 to contain Brown. That leaves 7 in the box. How do you stop Bell? And then the whole middle of the field opens up for your TE/Slot WR.

At the end of the day, Wheaton can be a solid contributor. But Bryant is a guy who creates space and opportunity for everyone else. AB and Bell are the toughest WR and RB in the league to tackle in the open field. Bryant just opened up the field for those 2 making it even harder for defenders.

Eh, that's what people said about Plax and Hines...also about AB and Wallace...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

You're talking about #1 and #2 WRs. This thread is about the #2 and #3 guys. A fairer comparison for this thread would be Randle El vs Plaxico. And I'm not sure anyone ever compared those 2.

a few years ago, i had this very discussion with a buddy re: Wallace vs AB...

He swore they shoulda just upped the ante for Wallace to ensure he was kept. I said I'd rather have had AB regardless of contract.

I argued that speedsters with average hands are a dime-a-dozen - there is a Stonio, Torry Smith, Mike Wallace in every draft. OTOH, good routes/reliable hands make you the next Hines Ward..

Absolutely. If he is stupid enough to get a 10 game suspension as a second time offender then I don't care how much talent he has. He is useless to the team. Bell also has an additional problem of whether he can stay healthy going forward given two significant knee injuries.

Why would Bell get a pass

Guy sounds like a real piece of ****

@jimwexell: Martavis Bryant on Ben saying he needs to toughen up: "It was good for him to challenge me. I'm accepting it."

@jimwexell: Bryant II: "I'm regenerated. I'm going to get right and I'm going to be ready to go Saturday."

@jimwexell: Bryant III: "He's the leader of the team. If he feels you need to step up your game, it's his job to call you out. I'm happy he did it."

@jimwexell: Bryant IV: "Last week I missed a couple days because I was sick. This week my body feels great and I feel great."

@AKinkhabwala: Martavis Bryant said Antonio Brown told him to come catch extra balls after practice today: "I never say no to AB."

Was great timing by Ben on the callout

A focused Bryant takes the offense to a whole nother level

Agreed. As I have throughout this thread.
Any of you guys who dissed Bryant wanna speak up. Dudes ability is RIDICULOUS. Wheat IS NOT CLOSE.

Wheat has hands sure. You can get better hands. YOU CANNOT "learn" what Bryant has.
Bryant can make ANY play Wheat can make. He just needs consistentcy.
Bryant can make plays that Wheat IS INCAPABLE OF MAKING look easy.

I will say it again, he ain't just tall and fast. He is shockingly quick at his size. He is quicker than most small receivers. I don't know of a tall receiver with his quickness.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
