Shazier does not have alopecia. He has unlucky hair follicles.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Let us know how that goes for ya lol...I somewhat recall using a similar line and it didn't go to well for myself hahaComment

You'll be unlucky alright...as in you won't be getting lucky this weekend.

Steelers linebacker Shazier out to shed injury-prone label

Having a career defined by injuries isn't a pleasant thought.
Having it defined as a 23-year-old former first-round pick and a year-and-a-half into your professional career is something Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier refuses to let happen to him.
However, it keeps happening.
Shazier was diagnosed with a concussion after getting briefly knocked unconscious during a special teams play last week against the Seattle Seahawks. It was the third time this year Shazier has dealt with an injury and the fifth time in his brief career.
“He wants to play,” defensive coordinator Keith Butler said. “This kid wants to play, and you feel bad for him because the things that have happened to him. Sometimes things happen and you get more injuries than you want.”
Like it or not, Shazier's career has been stunted by injuries.
Since the Steelers drafted him with their first-round pick in 2014, Shazier has been listed on the injury report 19 of 28 games and has missed 11.
And this is a guy who didn't miss a game in his three years at Ohio State.
“It's been real frustrating, but God has a plan, and I have to be patient,” Shazier said.
Thing is, Shazier might have been too patient in the past, at least that's what Butler alluded to Thursday.
Shazier missed seven games his rookie year with knee and ankle problems. This year, it has been a knee and a shoulder. In both instances, Shazier was out longer than anticipated.
When Shazier injured his shoulder late in a Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers after he collected a career-high 15 tackles, he missed the next four games without much explanation from anybody, including coach Mike Tomlin.
“He has to play through them, and that's part of growing up and being a veteran in the National Football League,” Butler said. “If you are waiting to feel good before you play, you are never going to play. He's dealing with that right now, and hopefully we can get him on the field and keep him on the field.”
Butler wasn't talking about playing through Shazier's latest ailment — a concussion — but rather the other injuries.
However, for the second time in a month, it appears an injury won't cost Shazier playing time. He fought through a knee injury he suffered against the Oakland Raiders on Nov. 8 to play the next week against the Cleveland Browns. He was listed as questionable with the same knee injury coming out of the bye week but started against the Seahawks.
Now, it appears Shazier will play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
He was a limited participant at practice Wednesday and a full participant Thursday, indicating he passed the ImPACT concussion test earlier in the week.
It's unknown whether Shazier has been cleared to play, but backup inside linebacker Vince Williams thinks Shazier will play.
“I didn't even know Ryan may or may not play,” Williams said. “He's been at every practice.”
Williams, the definition of tough-guy linebacker, also said Shazier has to “grind through” injuries.
“This is the NFL, and it is a very physical sport,” Williams said. “I think he is mentally strong. He always comes back and has strong games when he misses some time with those little bumps and bruises.”
Shazier has shown he can be a dynamic playmaker when healthy. He showed that last year when he had 11 tackles in a September game against the Baltimore Ravens and again early this season when he dominated the 49ers, including his first career sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in a little more than three quarters of action.
“The more you think about trying to stay healthy and try to stay away from injuries is when they tend to happen,” Shazier said. “I am going to stop worrying about them and go out there and play.”
The injuries have been an issue with Shazier, who took to Twitter to respond to some naysayers while he was out with his shoulder injury. One person referred to Shazier as “soft.”
“It's been a bumpy couple of years, but I am just going to let the past be the past and do the rehab and make sure my body is right,” Shazier said. “I am not going to be depressed on those issues anymore. You can't control when you get hurt.”

BTW, he missed Thursday practice with a knee. Re: being soft, my favorite definition of a "minor injury" is one that happens to somebody else. He's the only one who knows how he feels. Did Butler want him risking permanent nerve damage earlier in the year?Comment

The players risk permanent nerve damage every time they play. I would love to know the extent of this "injury" where he was being asked to take an unneeded risk.Trolls are people too.Comment
