    I like this headline best....

Steelers release draft-bust Archer, add Jacoby Jones

    Published: Nov. 5, 2015 at 05:05 p.m. Updated: Nov. 5, 2015 at 05:44 p.m.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have given up on Dri Archer.

The team announced on Thursday they released the rarely used second-year running back and pass-catcher in order to make room for veteran return man Jacoby Jones.

Waived this week by the Chargers, Jones essentially replaces Archer as Pittsburgh's primary kick returner. After seeing Jones previously thrive in the AFC North as a member of the Ravens, the Steelers saw more in the 31-year-old specialist than Archer, who recorded the fastest 40 time at 2014 NFL Scouting Combine but failed to break out as a return man.

Jones, of course, has amassed 10,184 all-purpose yards, with 4,720 of those yards -- along with nine scores -- coming on kick and punt returns. Fans will remember that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin famously appeared to try and trip Jones along the sideline during a return two Thanksgivings ago.

Now they're on the same team.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but when we drafted Dri Archer Devonta Freeman was still on the board. If you don't know who Freeman is, well, he's currently leading the NFL in rushing yards.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Jones has been hurt for a good number of games this season. I can't imagine the steelers would have signed him if they didn't think he still could be effective. They would have just kept archer.

Why is everyone so concerned about a 3rd round bust when we have a 1st round bust in his 3rd yr still "figuring out how to adjust to the NFL"

It's called misdirection. Get everyone talking about the 3rd round "reach" to avoid talking about the bigger problem drafted as our "pass rush savior" in the 1st Round and was suppose to be the "best prepared" LB for our system when he was drafted

It's quite possible. He still goes down way too easily though. It will have to be a lot of space.

What is it with Tomlin and midget running backs? Stefan Logan, Chris Rainey, Dri Archer. These are luxury picks on a team with real holes.

Stefan Logan? A guy who played for us in 2009 and wasn't even a draft pick? You are really reaching just to criticize Tomlin at this point...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Rainey was a 5th and got the boot for off field. Archer was Haley more than it was Tomlin and based on his speed etc he should have had more success. However I feel like he was misued in our offense and above all else our running back situation had been stacked. Haley has always had a back like Archer

I would say that Isiah Pead was the guy that Tomlin wanted as the 'speed' back. And now that he's a Steelers, I guess it's easy to move on from Archer.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

like you would know. lol. when has Haley ever showcased a small quick RB in his career? I love how forum posters can claim they know the inner workings of the Steelers.
