He's been in the offensive backfield so much lately maybe they should move him to defensive line...

I agree. Beachum doesn't have the raw strength to be a full time guard. He'd be fine there as an occasional fill in but a big step down from Foster as a full time player.

I love watching that little fullback from the Giants who is filling in as a nose tackle due to injury, and keeps beating the opponents' interior o-linemen with quick spin moves. It throws them off, because he's nothing like what they are used to blocking.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

He can return from the PUP list because he did not even start pre-season. I forget when he is eligible, but in a few weeks I believe.

He can start practicing after week 6 (which means now). He can practice for up to 3 weeks before the team needs to make he decision to put him on the 53 man roster or end his season on I.R. If he's not ready to practice yet, they can wait up until week 11, I believe, before he automatically reverts over to season ending IR.

Steelers OL Alejandro Villanueva Puts On 95 Pounds Since Last Year

Alejandro Villanueva gains nearly 100 pounds

There’s some guys that you just can’t help but to root for and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva is a prime example of just that.

Villanueva is a West Point graduate and U.S. Army Ranger captain, who served three tours in Afghanistan. Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Villanueva, but he was immediately let go before the season.

Now, the 6-foot-9 lineman is in Pittsburgh and in order to increase his chances of making the team, Villanueva decided to hit the weight room viciously.

Alejandro Villanueva told me he now weighs 340. Was 245 in Philly last year.

Yes, you read that write. Villanueva nearly gained 100 pounds in a year span.

              Is this even healthy?

He's the most svelte looking 340 pounder I've ever seen.

I read somewhere that his natural weight is like 315 or something like that. I can't find the link though (sorry Shawn)

Villanueva: 'I could have played better'
                    Posted 1 hour ago

                    Teresa Varley
                    Steelers.com

Tackle Alejandro Villanueva is ready for his first NFL start.

Players are often their own worst critic, and that was the case for Alejandro Villanueva when he stepped in against the Cardinals last Sunday at left tackle after Kelvin Beachum left the game with a season-ending ACL injury.

“I think I could have played better,” said Villanueva, who made his NFL debut in the game. “When it’s your first NFL game a lot of the plays seem surreal and you truly haven’t been as involved in the game process. I could have been way more physical, I could have finished plays better. I know how to fix all of those things and I should have been more consistent on the field.”

Villanueva expects more from himself this week, and having a full week to prepare for his starting role can do nothing but help. While he has approached every week as if he were a starter this year, actually being in that role amps things up.

“There has been just a little more sense of urgency to perform, especially with all of the mental reps I have to get outside of football and the practice environment,” said Villanueva. “It’s been a good week. I am eager to play and I just can’t wait to get the first play over with.”

Villanueva has been leaning on his teammates and offensive line coach Mike Munchak this week to get him ready to start, and one of his biggest supporters has been Beachum.

“He already has helped,” said Villanueva. “He told me what the defense is like, the personality of the players. He is a very competitive guy. He has been a great mentor for me since I have been here and he hasn’t stopped doing that.

“Coach Munch is going to prepare me the best way a coach can prepare me. My teammates are going to help me and put me in the best position. It’s up to me to perform and that is the good scenario I am in. I am not making any excuses other than leaving my performance up to myself

If Munch can fix his technical mistakes, and he seems like a willing student, we might have found the James Harrison of left tackles.
