It sucks to see one of our own go down again for the rest of the year. Hopefully Villanueva continues to do good.

He played great actually. I know Beachum is a pretty good LT and the point is moot now because he is injured and whether he returns or gets resigned is anyone's guess, but Villanueve could very well be the answer at LT and Beachum could move to RT where Gilbert is just serviceable. Great find by Colbert!Comment

He has started to practice and I think the team has some number of weeks (I think 3) to determine whether to put him on active roster or season ending IR. I have read nothing about how he looks or feels. Someone more knowledgeable about rules...please chime in"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment

Really unfortunate for Beachum. He struggled a bit this year, but by all accounts, he's a great guy. And he's also a guy that's started for a few years and never really been paid. I don't know what the negotiations looked like for Beachum, but he had to be a hard guy to value for an extension.
Moving forward, I only noticed Villanueva a few times - all positive. He's going to face a much stronger challenge with the KC pass rushers, but his first outing was certainly successful.Comment

The 1st thing that I noticed about Villunueva is that he doesn't look like a lineman, that is, he isn't just a large human, he's defined, rather than rotund. Which in all likelihood makes him athletic and that's a good thing for the offense and blocking schemes that we are seeing being taught ny Munchak and the offense that Haley has installed. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do as "the guy" and not the stand in.
My wife even mentioned that he didn't look like a lineman physically.

I´m not concerned about Villanueva. I think he´ll be a great tackle.

He looks so much bigger than he did last season, like they said he was 277 when they were talking about him but he could be 330 easy. The 1st thing that I noticed about Villunueva is that he doesn't look like a lineman, that is, he isn't just a large human, he's defined, rather than rotund. I dont think hes much different than Nate Solder, physically at least.
It would be amazing if he holds his own against Justin HoustonComment

Being a former WR -TE you know he has some good feet. I would say he is closer to 315 he looks huge out there. With his height he reminds me of seeing Jonathan Ogden tower over the rest. This this guy may take down this job and not let go. He is a freakish athlete for his size. And you know discipline and intelligence is not an issue with him. He was a Special forces ranger which speaks volumes about the type of determined motivated man he is. They may have hit the jack pot with him. I thought during preseason he was very good . But you always wonder about the level of competition. Well Beachum was struggling yesterday and he came in and settled that rush from that side down.Comment

I'm not seeing him resembling 330 at all, he's tall, muscular and strong. I can't say what his football skills entail, but he certainly stepped in yesterday and played admirably. I'm looking forward to this weekend against a premier pass rusher.

I'd like to see more than one half before I declare him to be the answer at LT, but so far, so good.
Beachum was going to have a tough time getting top OT money to begin with because of his size, or lack thereof. He may very well have to play next year on a one year "prove it" contract.Comment
